(17,469 posts)In that scenario, Sanders is the most likely candidate, since he did the heavy lifting. Trying to insert Biden at the last minute would create a rebellion and hand the election to Trump.
Personally, I think any bad news from the FBI will come in October when it can do maximum damage to Clinton. Once more I point out that the GOP absolutely LOATHES HRC.

(41,600 posts)Comey also convicted financier, tax evader, Marc Rich - who, incidentally, Bill Clinton pardoned before he left office. May be time to get even.
What better way to do that than to destroy the queen's campaign?
The Biden scenario is plan B before the convention. I see bad days ahead, either way...unless Bernie is the nominee.

He isn't going to run
If any new face shows up, s/he will be a Repug. They're desperate for a challenger to Trump. S/he probably would be a human sacrifice, but would be fun to watch.

(24,411 posts)there is no way that she would release her delegates to Sanders. As much as some like to pretend that her views are oh-so similar to Sander's views, we all know that this is ridiculous in the areas of foreign policy and corporate corruption. Clinton and Sanders are night and day on those issues.
I have thought, for some time, that Biden is the guy.
I am glad to see people discussing this. Many Democrats do not realize how very serious the FBI investigation is--and that it is almost certain that the FBI will recommend indictment. The problem is two-fold. Hillary's digital response team doesn't want anyone talking about this. So they mock and attack anyone who does. Their big talking points are: "Sanders supporters are just praying for an indictment!" and "This is nothing but a right-wing attack!". They're so very wrong on both points.
The FBI investigation into Clinton's use of her private, unsecured email server (that even President Obama didn't know about) is an incredibly serious problem within the DEMOCRATIC party. This situation, and the fallout--will affect Democrats. We need to discuss this. We need to talk about it. We need to be aware. Not bullied into silence by a bunch of talking-point myna birds who've been told to squelch all discussion.
I began reading about Clinton's server a few months ago, believing that it was much ado about nothing--or another Benghazi. Folks...it is as serious as a heart attack. Based on what we know that she did (reported by AP, Washington Post, NY Times, WSJ), it is clear that she violated laws. She violated the NDA that she signed the day she was hired as SOS. Her server wasn't even encrypted for the first three months that it was running. She might as well have put all of her emails up on a webpage.
All of her work as Secretary of State was done via her unsecured, private email server. The State Department looked at the 30,000 emails that she released to the FBI. Thousands have been deemed "classified." 22 have been designated as "Top Secret" which is the highest level of classification.
Clinton also deleted 30,000 emails from her server. She said they were work related, but it is a fact that she failed to turn over emails between herself and Sid Blumenthal that were about Libya and security in Libya. Several of these emails have been redacted in whole or part. They weren't chatting about recipes. Failing to turn over work-related emails is Obstruction of Justice and Evidence Tampering. Sid Blumenthal also outed the name of a CIA agent in correspondence to Clinton. Clinton forwarded that email to her staff. Not only is this an example of Clinton transmitting classified information over an unsecure server--it's also important to note that she was discussing classified information with someone who did not have a security clearance. Sid Blumenthal did not have a security clearance. When she signed that NDA she agreed not to do that.
Furthermore, by using that server, she violated Freedom of Information Act laws and also the Federal Records Act. She was supposed to use a .gov email address. When using a .gov email address, all correspondence is copied/backed up to comply with FOIA and the FRA. Her server allowed her to obviate those laws. Clinton made herself the arbiter of what "We The People" get to see and not see. That's not allowed. She never set up or used a .gov email address.
And please. Don't let anyone tell you that Condi R and Colin Powell did the same thing. That is false. They never had private email servers. They sent a few personal emails from Gmail or Yahoo accounts, but they never conducted all State business from a private email server. Furthermore, Powell or Rice never had thousands of emails retroactively classified and 22 marked as "Top Secret." Clinton's situation is absolutely unprecedented.
I understand why people tune out. It's a complex situation. However, a good Democrat--no matter which candidate you support--will research this topic thoroughly. I worry that too many Democrats are ignorant and in the dark about this issue--and when the shit does hit the fan there will be a "shock." When people are "shocked" by jarring information--they are often more cowed into submission.
That's not a smart way to live. Be informed. Read about this issue. Stop listening to fools who want you in the dark. Don't take my word for it. Read for yourself.

(23,272 posts)I think it was a smart "family" decision to re-group, grieve, take time.
But Joe may have finally emerged from his grief. There's enough anecdotal evidence to indicate Joe's sons, including Beau, wanted him to run for President.
I can see the DNC maneuvering this.
