CNN: Why Hillary Clinton isn't pushing Bernie Sanders to exit race

Aw...she was against us before she was with us. I'll be referring to the last line every time one her devotees carry on about Bernie staying in the race.

(CNN) — Hillary Clinton is itching to take on Donald Trump in a one-on-one contest for the White House -- but she isn't pushing Bernie Sanders off the stage yet.

Democrats close to Clinton and the man who could become a top surrogate -- President Barack Obama -- insist they won't pressure the Vermont senator to leave. That reluctance is based on fear inside the Democratic establishment that such a move would make it more difficult to unite the party later this year.

Clinton needs the excited supporters that have rallied around Sanders and hopes treating the senator's campaign respectfully will make them more likely to back her against Trump. Clinton has already started to make overtures to Sanders' supporters -- pledging to support them even if they don't support her -- and campaign aides have said those will continue in the coming weeks.

Clinton on Wednesday told CNN's Anderson Cooper said she isn't pushing Sanders to hurry up.

"I'm not calling myself that (the presumptive nominee)," Clinton said. "I know there are some contests ahead and I respect Sen. Sanders and whatever choices he's making. And I have a lot of empathy about this, Anderson. You know, I ran to the very end in 2008."

If they would have kept things about differences between them regarding issues in their overall campaign (and had not hired a sleaze merchant / hatchet man) like David Brock to spread disinformation, lies, insults, and general FUD from the start, party unity would be a complete no brainer, as it stands, they will largely have to rely on the dislike of Trump (second only nationally outside of the Democratic party to Clinton whose numbers and trust issues are groundbreakingly bad) to achieve what will likely largely rather than completely be a unified party in the end.

There are other things they've failed to consider, many of Bernie Sanders Supporters had been apathetic to politics or are new to the idea of being politically active, the former because of disillusionment with a rigged Washington establishment, and the latter, new younger voters and have largely joined as his supporters ONLY because of his known honesty and consistency and the belief that he would (not necessarily accomplish all his goals) but would fight like hell to accomplish them rather than flip fop once vin office. Many often also believe that he wold start any negotiations to get laws passed from a point representing the top point (or a little above realizing with compromise one must lower a bit) rather from the center point where compromise should end negotiating down from there as is usually the case with the Centrist branch of the party.

There are also those that will not be part of party unity because they are liberals that the party has grown to the right of in an extreme way, many that believe in a more FDR, Great Society, Civil Liberty and war against the poor variety that once were the Center of the party and have become Independents since the hard sharp right turn of the party reduced them to what is better described as a slightly more left Rockefeller Republican party. Those independents are not part of "party unity" as they are not part of the party and only came back because Sanders reminds them of the party the were/are loyal to that no longer exists in the form they were loyal to, They had hoped he and his political Revolution would restore the party to what it once was, the peoples party, rather than what it has become, the better of two corporate parties.

Then there are those like myself, that will take more than a new found civility on her campaigns part to get back in the Fold.

I (and I am far from alone) was the victim of election fraud and after 37 years as a faithful registered Democrat that voted straight D Ticket in every election (every two years and every in-between election locally) except for 2002 when I was in the hospital. Had my party affiliation changed from Democrat (as it always had been) to NPA just so I could not vote in my NYS primary!

Normally I would have assumed the fraud was a Republican thing, but no longer believe so and think it was a party thing as I have seen no reports (among the many thousands this happened to in more than one State) of any Clinton voters having had their party affiliation stripped from them.

I speak only for myself on this next bit, but since I am now an Independent (without my consent or even a polite notification of my new status), being an Independent, I take the hint from the party that kicked me out and will vote my conscious, whomever best represents it, rather than as usual until now, Straight Democratic ticket, from now on I will research and vote each separate slot on my ballot and vote my conscience,

it is safe to say I will nearly certainly be voting all Democratic down ticket as I already know my local options quit well, but I have not done due diligence yet regarding the Presidential slot and all the options that will be available to me in Nov. I will vote whichever one best suits my own goals and beliefs, it may or may not be Democrat, such will depend on the records and values of every individual on that portion of my ballot, rather than as usual, automatically Democratic out of party loyalty.

Unify party after all her,DNC,and establishment voter frad and suppression.

as longtime liberal democratic since i turned 18 In 1992 i have one foot out of the party.if clinton does at convention end up
stealing nomination I am firmly out the door and onto being liberal Independent.

I will not vote for clinton or trump.even bernie as VP wouldn't get me to vote.that won't happen.

I will leave DU at least till after election and stay home on election day.Any dem who didn't endorse bernie or who didn't remain
neutrel is on my shit list.

Clinton is trying to appeal to Bush donors and saying she better repsentes their values than Trump.

I warned people they underestimated trump at their peril.i always said he could win nomination when others said no that would
never happen.I say he could win In november with clinton as nominee.

CLinton isn't liked by independents and many bernie supporters won't vote for her.

The stealing of nomination, swiftboating of bernie, personal attacks on us by clintons and their supporters, and the issues where it's
no longer even debatable she's Republican lite are why many won't vote for her.

democratic party like GOP may be headed for fall with their underhand tactics to push CLinton and moving to right.

I am not only one who has had enough and isn't going to take it anymore.I won't ever vote republican but i won't vote for clinton
eather. The trump scare won't work on me.
