I wonder if "doing everything in my power to make sure Trump doesn't become President"

in the event that he, Bernie Sanders, isn't the Democratic nominee, really means what Rachel Maddow thinks it means.

Why didn't he just say he would support Hillary in that event? I think Bernie is smarter than Rachel.

I think " everything in my power" includes becoming the Democratic nominee and defeating the tRump Vincardog May 2016 #1
Because, as he has said all along, if he doesn't become the nominee he will, in fact, silvershadow May 2016 #2
Has he really said that? HerbChestnut May 2016 #3
Yes, he says it often. I just heard it last night. nt silvershadow May 2016 #5
I don't think he's ever specifically said... HerbChestnut May 2016 #6
No perhaps not...but the clear indications are that he obviously would. silvershadow May 2016 #10
This is significant. Any source? nt thereismore May 2016 #8
Well, no, I saw it on MSNBC last night...note that I'm not dropping a news item here, silvershadow May 2016 #12
I heard the same. However, that is not the same as "I will endorse her and help her get elected". thereismore May 2016 #13
Right, and I'm not sure if he will or not, and I'm really not that concerned silvershadow May 2016 #14
He says it at least one a week. Nt. LoveIsNow May 2016 #11
I've yet to hear him actually use the word "endorse" though. HerbChestnut May 2016 #16

I think she thinks it means he would endorse Hillary and work for her. nt thereismore May 2016 #7

give a full-throated endorsement to Clinton and work to get her elected.

He has said a thousand times that on her worst day she is better than Trump.

I just heard him say over and over he will work hard to see that Trump isn't the President. These "endorsement watches" are largely an insiders game and political junkie thing in my mind- I don't see the voting public getting all concerned about it...perhaps I am wrong.

about a general election question while we are in the midst of what is staring to appear to be an epic primary.

That's my point. He usually says that if he loses he'll do everything he can to make sure Trump doesn't win, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll endorse Hillary.

In 2004, Kucinich asked his delegates to vote for Kerry on the first ballot to make the nomination unanimous. He got so much pushback that he finally said that he would just make the request and that they should follow their consciences. Kucinich was never able to find a campaign manager with national experience, and Act Blue, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit barely existed. Sanders, the beneficiary of all the new media, will probably "endorse" in some way making it clear that he can't force his supporters to do anything.

I guess we'll see, but I have a feeling that Bernie is too independent minded to work for her directly. Odds are he'll go off on an anti-Trump tirade until the election.

and yet they won't do the one thing that's actually in their power, vote for the superior candidate to run against Trump.
