Bernie Sanders

The Democratic Convention is July 25-28.

I wonder whether it would be possible for us Bernie supporters with the help of Free Speech TV or some other TV blog to hold an internet convention JUST ON THE IDEAS THAT BERNIE IS PROPOSING the week before or the week after that.
I realize that this is short notice.
My idea is not that we would nominate Bernie as our presidential candidate necessarily, but that we could a) thoroughly air the details of Bernie's ideas in public and amongst ourselves and b) present progressive candidates who are running this year as well as some who might run in the future for federal, state and local offices.
We could integrate the use of a number of internet tools like Reddit, Facebook, DU (if it is willing), Jackpine Radical and others as well as the online TV stations including especially Real News, Thom Hartmann, TYT, Ed Schultz, GoLeftTV, Democracy Now all into the mix or get one of them to sponsor it.
It would be shown to be a completely non-violent showcase for progressives preferably before the Democratic Convention.
We need to learn a lesson from Nevada and from what we know about the organization thus far of the July Democratic Convention.
The powers that be are going to try to silence us.
Rather than react angrily, we need to remind ourselves that we have the message that is appealing to America's young people BECAUSE IT IS THE MESSAGE THAT OUR COUNTRY NEEDS AT THIS TIME.
Let's respond positively and preventively and organize our own issue-oriented convention BEFORE THE DEMOCRATS ORGANIZE US OUT OF THE CONVERSATION.
I'm thinking of something interactive.
Any ideas???
Thanks.

We do not want to repeat 1968. But we do want a forum in which our ideas, our really positive ideas, can be heard.
I think we learned from the Nevada experience that we have to be proactive and not allow the Hillary folks to cast us in the role of disruptors. We are the problem-solvers. They are the disruptors.
Let's show the Democratic Party, the American people and the world that we have the answers and that we can make a more peaceful world.
But at the same time, let's don't let them silence us.
With the internet, we do not have to allow the Andrea Mitchell's and Tweety's and Fox News's of the world have the first and last words.
We are a positive force in the world. Let's take the initiative and peacefully let the conservatives know who is in charge.

Something more.
It's so hard to get a hold of anyone in his campaign.
Maybe we can all tweet Nina, Susan, Tulsi and let them know we need more.

(7,321 posts)Very intensely and actively. This election has revealed so much, many lessons learned. from this cycles experience.,.
On the point of hooking up with FSTV tap into all of the other existing resources Including the Pacifica Radio Network, Democracy Now and others.
The Pacifica Radio Network has 5 radio stations nationwide, KPFA in Berkeley, KPFK in Los Angeles, WPFT in Houston, WBAI in New YORK and WPFW in Washington DC.
Pacifica Radio was founded by a group of Conscientious Objectors, among them, Lew Hill in 1947. in the San Francisco Bay Area, and KPFA went on the air 1948 in Berkeley.
Lew Hill would be so proud and honored to be involved in this mission were he still alive today and Pacifica was still under his leadership.
By the way, Pacifica Network has hundreds of affiliate stations which would be involved in simulcasting , which covers the entire nation. Fortunately we have the internet today, so the coverage could be as wide any other media.
We could do this!

(2,461 posts)While it might not be as Bernie specific as what you are calling for, I imagine it will be a great boost for the ongoing progressive movement. RealNews will be broadcasting

(9,298 posts)If nothing else, to get Bernie's campaign platform out there in more accurate detail. Just today a millenial college guy from Boulder told me he wasn't enthusiastic about any of the candidates. Words to the effect: "All I see are Bernie bumper stickers, but he's going to raise taxes."
