Lange appeared slightly unhinged. Mom hadn't followed the Nevada Convention news at all and was not predisposed to characterizing the woman as crazy or even kooky. If my mother thought that just from listening to Lange for a few minutes on the tube, I'd bet a lot of other people thought it too.
