Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumIs there any use at all in our efforts to bring truth and enlightenment to DU?
It is such a battle to bring anything to light that the authoritarian/bitter/deadenders will reject. And it seems they reject nearly everything. To say nothing of the huge influx of trolls, who are here merely to distract and deflect.
I wonder how many newer people who might LIKE to post OPs are totally intimidated by the battering here.
We all have done a super job, I think, of beating back the attacks every day.
But is there a return on our investment of time and wellbeing? Would we be better off to simply post in Bernie group, and leave them to dither?
Maybe I'm just feeling negative today because I have that crummy URI virus that has been tormenting America.
I just want to be able to discuss a wide, wide variety of news stories and events freely, with no fettering of discussion.
Talk me up. Talk me down.

(2,427 posts)You might get that sense of destroying the idiocy of a poster but that poster doesn't know they've been made out a fool or they don't care.
Every once in a great while, someone surprises me and is coherent and civil. However, it is becoming a damn rare thing these days. I appreciate the efforts by those that still engage with the republican talking point posters. I have stopped - I read but don't reply.

The infighting really is meaningless, and just makes a person feel yucky.
But I SO heartily object to the derision that is leveled at ALL unflattering information brought here. Even from platinum sources that used to matter to all Democrats.

(1,214 posts)Like minds gathering together. Where we go still depends on what happens next. Retake the Democratic Party from the DLC -corporate Dems? Form a new party? Work parallel to the DNC to elect liberal Dems(realizing that that is not the DNC's current policy)
On the other hand, some parts of DU are still ordinary, I still get info here on news stories that I wouldn't see on the MSNBC/drumpf channel, or CNN's milquetoast coverage of celebrity gossip.
Maybe take a break from the dreaded General Discussions: Primary, at least until you recover.

(14,691 posts)you can't force them. Better not to be that invested in the outcome you want, because to a great extent, it's out of your/our control.

(332 posts)That's what I'm doing - mostly. I don't even have anyone on ignore. I just ignore them.
A rule I've lived by since I was a teen: Don't hang out with people who don't like you. Hell, I'd rather be alone. But I'm easily entertained.

(696 posts)LOL, I don't know why I chuckled at that line. Just seems so.....duh, why didn't *I* think of that??
(Not that *I* have anyone on ignore)
You are definitely a Bernie person Jhart! That's exactly what he would say/do.

Spread the good news you hear far and wide.
Engage battle with the Brock trolls everywhere.
Get the info in front of eyeballs Democrat, Republican and Unaffiliated.
By no means, give up. THat's what they want, and we are SO close now. This is the time for the push, if ever there was one.
