Just watched "All the Way" on HBO

I was left with one thought: what's all this "incremental" garbage Hillary and Obama talk about?

LBJ, both Roosevelts, and Truman had the convictions and courage to follow through. They weren't for sale either.

people on the left came to hate LBJ for vietnam.and yet if you look at his domestic policy he may go down in history as last liberal
Democratic president.

One of my best friends, a lieutenant, was shipped back in a body bag. Hubs and I were just talking about him many hours ago this evening. His death still hurts both of us.

What damn war was ever truly necessary? With the exception of stopping Hitler?

the great society did a lot of good.now for some of it it can be argured he was able to get some things like civil rights act and medicare that kennedy wanted to do.

Ironic that today no dem would try to do what he did domesticly and would be worse than him.many dems learn nothing from Iraq
and want to keep going into war.just as it's hard for mnay dems of today to resist going into Cuba during missile crisis like kennedy did many would have keep going in vietnam In 1968 instead of after tet offense starting to talk peace to get us out of vietnam.

one of reasons i support bernie and not clinton is iraq and foregin policy.Clinton is worse than LBJ was on foregin policy and doesn't
offer anything like great society.

Johnson when he pushed for civil rights forsaw it would hurt dems In the south but apparently saw it as right thing to do.although others thought he was moving too slow.Could you imagine clinton risking anything to do the right thing? on gay rights she only support it once it becamme popular to do so.1964 while johnson won in landslide was begining of south turning republican.of the 6 states goldwater carried in 1964 outside of arizona his home state he carried 5 southern states as dems became party of civil rights and dixiecrats started moving over to GOP.

recommend enough. The story of LBJ working with numerous major figures during that historic time in the year 1964 is excellent. When young I remember LBJ, mother took our older brother to hear him speak in 1964 and I told my niece to remember Linda Johnson Robb when we saw her once in DC.

Film Trailer posted in in Video, with info.: Civil Rights Act of 1964, Civil Rights activist from Mississippi Fannie Lou Hamer and her speech at the Democratic National Convention in Aug. 1964; LBJ's opponent, conservative Republican Sen. Barry Goldwater of Arizona.
