Hillary Clinton declines invitation to debate Bernie Sanders in California
Hillary Clintons campaign said on Monday that she will not participate in a California debate against Bernie Sanders before the states primary on June 7.
The two campaigns had agreed to additional debates beyond the slate of events that had been scheduled by the Democratic National Committee. The Sanders campaign had hoped to schedule a final debate in California and Fox News had agreed to host in San Francisco.
In a statement, Clintons communications director Jennifer Palmieri confirmed that they do not intend to participate. Instead, Palmieri indicated that Clinton would prefer to instead continue her pivot to the general election fight against Donald Trump, the likely Republican nominee.
"We have declined Fox News' invitation to participate in a debate in California, Palmieri said. As we have said previously, we plan to compete hard in the remaining primary states, particularly California, while turning our attention to the threat a Donald Trump presidency poses.

We knew she was too scared to actually do it, too inept to do it successfully, and too Hillary to follow through on her word.

(41,600 posts)The woman is a liar and doesn't do anything she says she'll do. She got what SHE wanted before the NH primary and made promises for more debates in certain months and she knew she wouldn't keep those promises.
Chicken shit. She knows she would lose again.

(7,300 posts)I love it! Right up there with "Marriage is the leading cause of divorce globally."
I saw that on a generic search a while back and just knew I had to use it.

(7,300 posts)I really can't say I blame her. What would she gain? She's already winning. I'd decline too if I was winning. I'm a long time Sen Sanders supporter and not a Clinton supporter but I would really question her already questionable judgement if she did agree to a debate at this point. Nothing to gain but a lot to lose.

(22,000 posts)I still think California is going to be too close though to net Sanders the delegates he needs. I figure he'd need to win by 70% or more. I think the margin will be 10-15%. Blowouts are hard to come by unlike the number ofidiots who have been fooled into thinking Clinton is a progressive.
