(11,785 posts)and have always thought of that as a flouncing move. If you're going to go, go. Announcing and flouncing just sets you up for ridicule.

I am grateful for the good bye threads. I seem to have been born with an overactive worry gene. If someone disappears, I start worrying that they are ill or worse.

(45,251 posts)I'd always though I'd go out with a bang, when I get a hide because I'd lose my cool with a troll or the admin for being so biased. But like you I'm glad to know where people have gone and will see everybody at JPR.

(13,141 posts)you've been a steady and informed defender of our next actual president (my opinion re outcome, based on wtf at this point, as I just don't believe Hillary is going to get past the FBI.)

(45,251 posts)In addition to the long-time suspects, influxes occurred in October 2015 and, of course, May 2016.
CAVEAT: I am NOT saying everyone who joined during those months is a paid poster. That would be a ridiculous charge.

(9,314 posts)but why are you leaving. It sounds like you think you will have no choice. I have seen people post the "purge" comments but I think they are exaggerating. There has always been a rule at DU that you cannot support a third party candidacy or post to derail the official nominee during election season. I think a lot of people will stay who do not support the nominee but will just frequent other forums they particularly like and wait this election out.

(9,314 posts)I think you are being paranoid. They are going to take care of people who are disruptive or who support Trump. But those people who keep referring to a "purge" I think are trying to scare people into shutting up. There has never been a wholesale purge since I have been here -- 2001.
Stick around if you can. I was just getting to know you.

(6,120 posts)Even your "deleted" posts are still there in the Google archive and similar sites. It might take a different method to find them, but they will almost certainly still be online in multiple locations.
Once you put anything out on the net, you can not completely take it back. Think about all the politicians who have posted something stupid online and then realize their efforts to erase their behavior have totally failed.
I urge you to use your energies in other ways. If you actually get yourself banned, your posts will disappear from the current version threads at DU without you doing a thing. In the extreme scenario, if the DU site were taken completely offline, none of the content would be available except in the archives.

(16,974 posts)I will just adjust my posts to say I will not vote for Trump which is true. I will never be for a certain candidate. I can do this for a few months. I am curious how Skinner's new rules work out and if it makes it more civil, I doubt it will myself.

I won't delete anything - I don't have anything that insidious and I'll bet that you don't either.
I'll just slink away like they want me too. However I will probably lurk from time to time especially in November. Although if she is the nominee and she doesn;t win the GE (I don't think she has a chance) I'm not sure that I want to see all of their teeth gnashing and wallowing. It sure won't be pretty around here!

(349 posts)You have unique insightful posts. You might want to create and own your very own blog site where you control the content and you get to directly benefit from the views you receive. I could see a potential quite large following if you did so.
Peace, Love, and Bernie Sanders to you as well.

(4,775 posts)Thanks for all your efforts. If you're on JPR I'll see your posts there.
LOL at your Heathers #1 - #150 remark, too true.
I don't know what the future looks like for DU, but it defines itself as being a forum for supporting Democrats regardless of how much their policies and donors resemble Republicans, which is not what I'm about, I (and pretty much all Bernie supporters such as yourself) want the progressive change we're always denied by politicians who won't go against the wishes of their corporate donors. It's a pity the ownership here isn't an ally in this, and increasingly the Democratic Party isn't an ally in this either.
Maybe the Sanders campaign is the beginning of a remake of the Democratic Party, or maybe it's the beginning of something new and better, or maybe it's just the latest example of the people's will being smashed by the interests of the wealthy and powerful. I think the end of the story is still being written.

(1,587 posts)I will have no interest in this site at all should Hillary steal the nomination (and she'll have to steal it, no way she wins honestly). I've had some long thought about it, and I find I support actual democracy over any party. I'm too old to hold my nose and hope I don't end up downhill from a load of shit. And with her, the shit will be coming, no matter how the weather vane spins.
So, purges, ridicule, stupid rules, favoritism, whatever comes along here, I have JPR. I hate it, since I've been reading here almost from the beginning (found the site early on in 2001), but this place is horrible unless we have a Republican to help us past our differences -- any even then, it only works so far.

(4,775 posts)We all are, and the loads will just keep on coming.
They think they are burying us, not realizing we are seeds. Let's see what grows in this shit.
A new and improved DU and Democratic Party (unlikely in both cases), a lot of the 40% independents migrate to a new entity (the Green party, the UPP (http://www.unitedprogressiveparty.org/), the Democratic Socialist Party (http://www.dsausa.org/), or something else), JPR establishes itself as a vibrant progressive lab for change (likely), who knows?
I think it's important to put our energy into places not invested in corporate money and corporate interests, which to me means the ownership of internet sites we call home, and leadership of political parties. If it isn't with our agenda at the top, we should work in some more populist context, or we'll just continue to get screwed by institutional bias and barriers.
There's a great of energy looking for direction, we'll see what form it takes. Peace!

(11,785 posts)nominee in the days to come, the convention is two months from now, and I don't see her holding on to her position. The IG report alone should be enough to do her in, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Take a vacation. Maybe permanent, maybe not.

Conversely most every criticism of Bernie is from the right and are taunts and bullshit.
A ban on right-wing criticism, nasty attacks and taunts will HELP Bernie and a lot of Hillary supporters won't have very much, that is positive, to say. It might turn out that a lot of Hillary supporters get the ban stick, because of their inability to stop posting divisive, insulting shit.

And, that's fine, since it only *helps* prove that these problems exist to more people.
These are problems and a lot of people can't accept that someone that they looked up to is involved with them.
