First, take a deep breath, then laugh and smile a lot. I cannot recommend this course highly enough.
In my view, the current group of posters is the most unintentionally funny group of posters DU has had for as long as I have been reading DU. You may as well enjoy.
Second, bear in mind that this has been a campaign of false flag operations. http://jackpineradicals.org/showthread.php?11573-The-Sit-Down-and-Shut-Up-Award-and-Other-Realities
That someone posts something does not mean he, she or it believes it. Also, no one is being paid to concede any points to you.
Third, do not care what other posters think of you. It's irrelevant and, again, no one is being paid to agree with you or to admire your posting skills.
Fourth, take a deep breath, then laugh and smile a lot.
I guaranty that these simple steps will improve your posting experience here and may even improve your blood pressure and general health. (I firmly believe laughter is healthy. In any event, it's fun.)
Remember, posting is supposed to be a pleasant pastime.
ETA: I forgot one: Even if you were raised to "speak when you're spoken to," you REALLY don't need to answer every post. At some point, it becomes obvious that nothing productive, even another smile, is going to come out of the exchanges you've been having. At that point, with or without bidding that fellow DUer a good day or evening, just move on.

Maybe that's why I've learned to laugh a lot while totally sober?

Verse 1
They say I'm crazy, got no sense,
But I don't care.
They may or may not mean offence,
But I don't care;
You see I'm sort of independent,
Of a clever race descendent,
My star is on the ascendant,
That's why I don't care.
Chorus 1
I don't care,
I don't care,
What they may think of me.
I'm happy go lucky,
Men say I am plucky,
So jolly and care free.
I don't care,
I don't care,
If I do get the mean and stony stare.
If I'm never successful,
It won't be distressful,
'Cos I don't care.
Verse 2
Some people say I think I'm it,
But I don't care,
They say they don't like me a bit,
But I don't care;
'Cos my good nature effervescing,
Is one, there is no distressing,
My spirit there is no oppressing,
Just 'cos I don't care.
Chorus 2
I don't care,
I don't care,
If people don't like me,
I'll try to outlive it,
I know I'll forgive it,
And live contentedly.
I don't care,
I don't care,
If people do not try to treat me fair.
There is naught can amaze me,
Dislike cannot daze me,
'Cos I don't care.
Verse 3
If I call on a friend and she's "not in,"
Why, I don't care,
I simply discover I need some pins,
'Cos I don't care;
Her feeble slight does but amuse me,
Nothing like it could induce me,
To hand it back none could induce me,
Just 'cos I don't care.
Chorus 3
I don't care,
I don't care,
If she did mean to snub.
I'm feeling so jolly,
T'would be simple folly
To even feel the rub.
I don't care,
I don't care,
If I do call on her
And she's not there.
If she can't say "Hello,"
She's not a good fellow,
And I don't care.
Verse 4
They say my hair's in silly style,
But I don't care,
They but amuse me all the while,
"Cos I don't care;
You see my hair with me's a fixture,
And it's color's not a mixture,
When they call me living picture,
Surely I don't care.
Chorus 4
I don't care,
I don't care,
If my hair is not dressed swell;
I've got no kick coming -
It's vastly becoming,
And suits my face so well;
I don't care,
I don't care,
I know that style like mine
Is mighty rare.
So no one can "Phase" me,
By calling me "Crazy,"
'Cos I don't care.

(2,872 posts)[Verse 1]
Say my name, and his in the same breath
I dare you to say they taste the same
Let the leaves fall off in the summer
And let December glow in flames
Erase myself and let go
Start it over again in Mexico
These friends, they don't love you
They just love the hotel suites, now
[Chorus]
I don't care what you think
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness, in misery
I don't care what you think
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness, in misery
[Verse 2]
Oh, take a chance, let your body get a tolerance
I'm not a chance, but a heat wave in your pants
Pull a breath like another cigarette
Pawn shop heart trading up, said no
I'm the oracle in my chest
Let the guitar scream like a fascist
Sweat it out, shut your mouth
Free love on the streets, but
In the alley it ain't that cheap now
[Chorus]
I don't care what you think
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness, in misery
I don't care what you think
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness, in misery
[Bridge]
Said-a, I don't care just a-what you think
As long as it's about me, you said-a
I don't care just what you think
As long as it's about me, you said-a
I don't care (I don't care)
You said I don't care (I don't care)
Said I don't care, I don't care
I don't care (I don't care), I said-a, I don't care
[Chorus]
I don't care what you think
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness, in misery
I don't care what you think
As long as it's about me
The best of us can find happiness, in misery

(45,251 posts)I doubt anyone old enough to remember vaudeville is still alive, let alone using a computer to post from youtube.
But exposure to a variety of music--all the arts--is good, I think.
Only time I dip into coffers of music that old is when I'm looking for something to sample, to be fair-- we're headed back into the Roaring 20's, so I figure electro-swing will suit the mood.

(45,251 posts)This one is a Charleston, I believe, recorded in 1922, so Roaring Twenties.

(55,981 posts)them all on ignore. I have about 80 including about 4 zombies (Clinton posters with less than 100 posts and no star) per day. They just keep coming.
They have never wanted to speak to issues so why I ever bother to fence with them I don't know. And the condescension is laughable.
merrily
(45,251 posts)I wish there were a feature that allowed me to take everyone off ignore with one click, then restore them all to ignore after I've completed the search.
There were posts I knew I'd seen, but then could not find when I searched for them. Turned out that is because people I don't ignore were either reply to the ignored poster or being replied to by the ignored poster. Maybe it's both--I didn't notice. So, let's say I ignored Poster Y, and I am looking for something you posted. If you posted it during a conversation you had with Poster Y, I might not be able to find your post.

(45,251 posts)There is real life and then there are message boards, social media, etc.
I am asking for fundamental fairness, or at least clarity, on a message board. That does not interfere with my oxygenation IRL or anything else IRL. But I am always happy to hear Sanders speak, so, again, thank you for posting.

(23,664 posts)For a couple reasons.
First, real life has intervened and I don't have as much time to post, browse or surf.
Second, I find myself wanting to post things just to piss people off.
I think its time for me to take a break. I'm a member over at JPR but my browser doesn't like the site so I don't spend much time there. I hear that they have come out with 2.0 so hopefully things will improve.
I'll keep an eye on events and if the temptation to gloat becomes irresistable I'll just go outside and play with the dogs.
And I need to find out what is the minimum I can pay here to avoid seeing them stupid ads.
Your post is right on. I'm working on my own coping strategy.

(45,251 posts)However, I stick to posting, editing and deleting, both here and at JPR and I seem to do fine with those functions on both boards. I am, however, looking forward to 2.0
