(40,656 posts)DU is too delicate to have free wheeling discussions and turn people out that you demand a FULL refund of any money you paid to this site for its upkeep. Don't go without your money because apparently, your money is welcome even if you aren't.

I won't be voting for Trump either. I already know people will argue that not voting for Hillary is a vote for Trump, but that's bullshit. It's voting against both of the corrupt and dangerous candidates offered up by two sold-out parties.

(14,691 posts)To paraphrase Bob Dylan - how many elections do we have to vote for Their choice before we get to vote for OURS? The truth is, a vote for Her is a vote for Trump.
I'm in a "safe" state - for Her. I won't vote for Trump (see that Hillarian snoopers and Brock lurkers? Sorry to ruin your narrative.) and I won't vote for Her. I WILL write in Bernie if it comes to that. The Clintons and the DNC own the coming (continuing?) exodus of moderates and left wing Dems. They'll have their right-wing "Democrat" party all to themselves. They think we have no where to go? I'm goin' to Indyland and they can go to Hell.

(713 posts)we had reluctantly planned on voting for her if Bernie wasn't the nominee, but with the way she's conducted herself throughout the primaries, and now with the email scandal that only proves how dishonest we suspected she was anyway, there's just no way. Not in good conscience. The only way to stop getting more of the same is to stop participating in it.

Who will be posting here then? Well maybe the ones on payroll will be.
What a fucking joke this site is. It was only really good while Bush was in office. After that we saw how many people were really just idol worshippers who actually didn't care about policy at all. Or maybe they do, but they like corporatist Republican policy because they defend them at every turn. Defending the TPP is fine on DU but... oh whatever. I might do my flame out soon...

(349 posts)Until he says otherwise, that's what it's going to be. Just as has happened many many times in the past. No amount of media manipulation or heads in the sand will change the facts, or the truth. And imo he will most likely emerge from the convention as the dem. nominee.

Great people for the most part but lately it's been pretty much taken over by the Hillary supporters. The whole political scene in America has become a farce. If America succumbs to Trump they deserve it. All I've ever heard from Hillary supporters is "experience". . I'm thinking experience at fucking us. Besides, being a student of history I know that James Buchanan had the most experience of any American president and is considered one of the worst, if not the worst.
The present Democratic Party is the Republican Party reheated with a few allowances for progress that doesn't cost anything. We can have a black Republican, a gay republican, or a woman Republican. We will still be fucked. I have worked for over 50 years and am old and crippled from it, but that doesn't bother me too much. What really bothers me as how many "Democrats" are so willing to toe the Republican line. I went door to door for Obama and brought in my precinct at over 80%. I was precinct captain for Bernie and brought in at 84%. I have yet to see a hillary sign. I'm sick of hearing she's inevitable This is a blue collar immigrant community, which has been an immigrant community for over 100 years. Polack, Russian, German, Irish, Mexican, African American, African, Muslim ,Catholic, Protestant, Palestinian, and me the Jewboy Cowboy.
A few days ago I ran into a transgender friend of mine who supports Hillary. While I respect her, she's also a dentist and makes good money. The parting line with me is the Iraqi War vote and the speech for same. I guess if you are doing well and don't give a flying fuck about anything else, she' your gal, not mine.
Fuck it. it's time to sell the goddamn house and leave the USA.

(24,010 posts)Bernie Sanders demolishes Hillary Clinton in California (and, frankly, with TWO MILLION new registered voters in California, most of them young, most registered Democratic, it IS more than possible), throwing the convention into tumult, whatever sour old New Jersey does, and DOUBT prevails at the convention, and Clinton keeps plummeting in match-ups with Trump (which she is now losing) and Bernie keeps demolishing Trump in all polls, like he's been doing since January, and some of our benighted Democratic leaders who endorsed Clinton before they knew there was a Bern...hesitate, stop, look around, think about 20,000+ people cheering at rally after rally, think about downticket races, think...
...and one cracks, and then another, and, not even counting the FBI investigation, just thinking about Trump quoting the John Kerry State Department OIG report, the flood begins...
...and Bernie wins the nomination!
Now, think about DU and what it would be like with Bernie Sanders as the nominee. No Heathers, no bullies, no idiots, nobody paid by the comment, all heartful volunteers, researching, informing people, thrashing out the election issues with abandon, working on all the public policy details of all the things that will make peoples' lives better, criticizing Bernie openly (he can take it!), open-minded, open-hearted, well-informed, vigorous discussion of everything that's on the minds of the American people but never gets covered by the Corrupt Media, with organizing threads of how to get things done in Washington DC, furious activity to elect all the downticket Bernie people who are running, and everyone else who shows any sign of wanting to turn away from corporatism and war...
Oh, my, my, my would we have fun being the liveliest place on the political internet, being a genuine democratic underground, where the rumbles of the people start and new ideas and policies get formulated, and campaigns of reform are initiated and spurred on!
Imagine it! First imagine it! DU as it could be. The General Election as it could be. Our government as it could be. Our democracy as it could be. Our country as it could be, full of hope and positive energy. Mother Earth as she could be, once we learn how to take care of the malefactors who are poisoning her and start restoring her to health.
Hold the image. Think what DU would be like, with Bernie as the nominee. Think how the downtrodden people in the Great Depression felt when Seabiscuit--that funny little horse scorned by the racing establishment--beat War Admiral!

When will certain people learn democracy entails not a party but a system of thought about how a government should function. The progressives here remember the ACTUAL definition of democrat. Not thier fault hillary has drifted right to the point shes farther right than Nixion was. This just shows how bad the people have been manipulated and forgot the definition of what democracy IS. And this has nothing to do with Bernie supporters.

(15,139 posts)the last primary, this site will undergo a name change and will henceforth be known as DINO Above Ground. This place has been my cyber political home since 2001. I have long been a poster and a financial contributor, not only of the site but to many worthy causes championed here. Among others, I gave to the flowers for Helen Thomas fund and contributed to helping a great DUer Andy Stephenson pay medical bills. I mourned Andy's death and the deaths of the legendary Khephra and many others we've lost along the way. This place is like family to me, and I resent that I'm going to be shunned and silenced because I refuse to get in line behind a deeply flawed candidate whose views I don't agree with.
When this place becomes Hillary Central after the primary season but before the convention (completely ridiculous), Skinner should be prepared for a mass exodus. No Bernie supporter is going to want to spend time in a fawning, sycophant-ridden pro Hillary echo chamber.

when it comes to amnesty the mother off all amnesty's was granted last week-when one of more celebrated Hillary supporters who had been flagged for an extended time seemed to grow a sock an obvious one that - admins reaction -unflag the original poster and flag the sock
and when it comes to who is a real Democrat well they're right we are not real Democrats not by today's standards for what is a Democrat in any event - today's Democrat and really for the past 23 years or so is a creature that would send shivers of delight through a 1980 type Republican or have them green with envy depending
and the beauty part is that along with it the standard for what a liberal is has changed too-all one has to do to be a liberal these days is pay nominal lip service to being for women's reproductive rights albeit those standards as we have recently told can be compromised as long as any restriction on abortion comes with a clause protecting the mother life and LGBT rights, well the L and G in any event the B doesn't even register and the T is negotiable apparently
Gone is the Great Society 'nonsense' of the LBJ era, you're either a winner or a loser these days
