Post MN Convention, from Saturday 6/4/2016--Delegates walk out
I received a report today from a MN Bernie Delegate about the Convention yesterday. Issues and angry delegates were abundant. Many delegates walked out of the convention after one final blow...
...They bypassed having the Convention Delegates vote for the top 5 resolutions to be adopted by the DFL and deferred those resolutions to be voted on by the central committee at a later date. Outrage was apparent and voiced. Many delegates were motivated to be there in order to vote for those resolutions. i.e. Single Payer Health Care and banning the Nickle Mining proposal in Northern Minnesota's protected wild areas. (I don't know all 5 at this time). As it turns out, the central committee are long-time participants and more conservative, so the vote on the resolutions will be sketchy.
They bypassed the collective democratic process. They bypassed a discussion and collective vote on major issues for the DFL platform!
The best speech was by 8th District Congress Rep. Rick Nolan (a Bernie SuperD) he had the Convention on it's feet clapping and yelling in support of his Bernie progressive platform agenda.
