Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI must confess
All the hate and lies against Bernie has me viewing and posting to DU less and less.
It seems to be reaching a 'fever pitch' as we approach the end of the primaries.
It saddens me, and I'm wondering if I should just use my laptop as a turkey platter.
But hey, I can always do jigsaw puzzles, right?

(7,499 posts)I used to hate baseball but got into it when the Royals went to the World Series twice. This morning I had to turn off the news and listen to sports radio because of all the "Hillary Is the One" crap.

(1,192 posts)It's already become a cesspool of David Brock's paid trolls. And they don't seem too bothered by it.
They can insist on nominating her. They can eventually do that. And then what? What do you think the party will become? What do you think DU will become?
People who care about issues won't be able to stay here any longer, after we nominate a person under federal investigation and we're "not supposed to tear down" the democratic candidate.

(11,076 posts)I have to admit while rolling those walls I thought about the Hillary campaign and my frustrations with it. I am so happy that my investment of time has paid off in a lasting way! If this thing goes south I will find more ways to make a better place, large or small. If Bernie pulls it off I will be downtown helping with the organization. Hillary's lack of interest in election fraud makes me a bad fit for her operation. I don't have to compromise and I won't.

(3,919 posts)inspiring.
today, at 3am pdt i had programmed c-span1 to view a "bernie sanders los angeles rally" - but it was not a rally. it was a town hall at the community "casa" or mexican community center. it was inspiring, touching, and beautiful.
several in the audience asked bernie questions and many shared their personal stories of immigration, etc. there was a woman from the state of oaxaca who told how american corporations were forcing the indigenous people off their lands to plant gmo crops, etc.. another man spoke of his work as an advocate for laborers who do not get paid or are paid less than minimum wage, etc.. a proud parent spoke of her son's enrollment at a university and the need for more support for students because they are faced with having to work full time jobs while attending school full time because the tuition is so high.
primarily, they were asking bernie for support and how he might help them. bernie was honest about what he can and cannot do as a president and how electing advocates to their local & state office, and the federal legislature are very important, too.
it looked hotter than the bottom of desert canyons in there - but the excitement and energy were evident.

I don't get it.

(10,007 posts)Maybe they're not winning so handily as they think?
In actuality, I think it's just that they are authoritarians, and authoritarians get really out-of-joint when everybody doesn't fall in line behind the Dear Leader. The fact that we're still pushing for Bernie must really, really, really piss them off.
And that warms my heart.

(12,882 posts)acting brave to fend off the looming indictment that's hanging there, above Dame Hillary. IF that indictment materializes - I don't think we can BEGIN to imagine what'll happen to the groupies here on DU. If that does come to pass, there won't be enough popcorn to go around!

Hope to see a bunch of you fine folks over there, I've enjoyed lurking around here a lot but I don't see why anyone would want to 'cast pearls before swine,' as the saying goes. I know that whatever I write will be either ignored by the trolls or just twisted into some weird violation of the TOS.
NOTE: "Pearls before swine" and "casting pearls" refer to a quotation from Matthew 7:6 in Jesus's Sermon on the Mount: "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces."

I just don't want anyone thinking that I'm trying to insinuate in any way that the people who disagree with me are in anyway less than human or that I'm calling them pigs or anything like that.
