Sanders Spokesman issues a statement on Media Jumping the Gun

JUNE 6, 2016

SAN FRANCISCO – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ spokesman, Michael Briggs, on Monday issued the following statement:

“It is unfortunate that the media, in a rush to judgement, are ignoring the Democratic National Committee’s clear statement that it is wrong to count the votes of superdelegates before they actually vote at the convention this summer.

“Secretary Clinton does not have and will not have the requisite number of pledged delegates to secure the nomination. She will be dependent on superdelegates who do not vote until July 25 and who can change their minds between now and then. They include more than 400 superdelegates who endorsed Secretary Clinton 10 months before the first caucuses and primaries and long before any other candidate was in the race.

“Our job from now until the convention is to convince those superdelegates that Bernie is by far the strongest candidate against Donald Trump.”

I know you can't control mass media, but you can control DU.

Will Hillary win? Very probably. Has she already won? Absolutely fucking not.

How can he ban discussion of an AP story or any story deriving from said propaganda?

As he has with his amnesty that allowed the site to be overrun by trolls. And, I'm not talking about the people who genuinely believe in their candidate of choice, or the normal nasties. It's the damned obvious trolls.

How, exactly, does he do it in a manner that doesn't generate an alert on every post?

It would be trivial for an HRC supporter to start a topic (or respond to an existing topic), and then half way down, just drop in a ref to the AP (or derivative) story.

I perfectly agree that this announcement by AP is the corporate media at its worst - the timing stinks. It is an attempt to rig the primaries tomorrow.

But, how do you stop people from posting delegate totals and claiming victory? Half the posts on the site are like that.

I'm not objecting to your sentiment; just saying I don't see how to make it work.

An announcement that the super delegates do not vote until the convention. An announcement that, although it appears that Hillary will be the nominee, she does not yet, and may not yet after the CA primary, have enough pledged delegates to be the nominee.

Trust me. Ain't gonna happen. Might as well call this place Hillary Underground.

You pull one aside, and suddenly there is another, and then another.

It's like the Nairobi Trio, without the humor.

The Media will call Hillary the presumptive president sometime around October 31 and she will be president and everything will be fine....
