In California Today.....

I was at my Ventura County polling place, which had an usually large turnout, and was proudly casting my vote for Bernie when I overheard a conversation that went like this:

Voter: I'd like a Democratic ballot please.
Poll Worker: I'm sorry but it says here you are a registered Republican. You can only vote the Republican ballot.
Voter: But I don't want to vote Trump. I like Bernie Sanders and I want to vote for him.
Poll Worker: Then you needed to reregister before the deadline. I can't give you a Democratic ballot.

This went on for a few more minutes before the guy gave up and walked out. Then, before I left, another woman came in and engaged in a very similar conversation.

Later, I took my mom to a deli for lunch. While we were waiting for a table , two men standing behind us, who appeared to be blue collar workers, were bemoaning both Hillary and Trump and agreeing the only candidate offering any hope to ordinary people was Bernie. One of them used the word "bullshit" to describe what happened yesterday.
Finally, a woman seated at the table right behind us was telling her friend about another friends' medical issues that were bankrupting her. She said single payer was the only solution but she didn't hold out any hope for that with either Hillary or Trump.

I realize this is all strictly anecdotal, but I think it speaks to the American mindset. We are being offered two unpopular candidates and not nominating the one candidate people like who'd kick Repuke ass like no one's business. It's fucking pathetic.

I would like to know what is going on in other parts of this state.
I just posted that the parking lot was full in San Bernardino's Elections Office of the Registrar of
Voters this morning at 9 am. Purely anecdotal but with all the misery around here I think
positive stories should be posted.

On the grassroots Reddit page there are some good stories also. People demanding a Democratic
ballot. People recording the poll workers. Poll workers giving in deciding it's not worth the fight.
People need to know that voters here are standing up and are pissed off!

parents, who are Bernie supporters, inexplicably voted for Clinton because they thought Bernie wasn't in it any more.

My conclusion: this ugly ploy was market-tested before being de-played.

This couple really like Sanders but voted for Clinton now that Sanders could not win. This was on the 5:00 or 6:00 EDT news summary.

saw it for what it was.

I'm glad it happened though, because now I can feel better about leaving the Democratic Party knowing that it disrespects its members so much that it engages in suppressing their votes. Well done, DNC.
