(21,210 posts)My husband cannot be in the same room when she is on the TV, nor can my son.
I do not remember Obama proclaiming such historic victory as Clinton is doing, and I have received a few emails today telling me I can get a magnet with her picture and the words "Made History" for only 10 bucks.
Obama never played his historic achievement up, if anything he downplayed the event, history will be written about him, he did not try and play up the fact that he was the first African American president in the U.S.
I am a woman over 60 and I appreciate all the women who have come before me to achieve my rights, but for me this is just another example of the "ME" campaign.
It is difficult and embarrassing to watch, I would prefer that accomplishments be based on more substantive issues than gender. One can be proud, but not loud.
Perfect response!!!

(32 posts)Hillary and Bernie ran 206,000 adsand not one was negative

Yes, there may have been a a fair amount of acrimony. It is, after all, a contest.
On June 7, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders concluded what had become, by the end, a contentious Democratic presidential primary.
As the race wore on, the candidates grew more aggressive in speeches, in debates, and on Twitter. Sanders in particular criticized Clintons hawkishness and sympathy toward Wall Street, attacks amplified by the media.
But when it comes to campaign ads, something happened that was pretty amazing.
But this animosity was entirely absent from one important realm. According to Kantar Media, Clinton and Sanders aired 206,528 spots between them this yearand not one was deemed negative by the analysts in Kantars Campaign Media Analysis Group (CMAG).

(11,945 posts)The negativity was done through statements in debates and interviews and in numerous dirty tricks by Hill's henchman, David Brock.
It was dirty, it was horribly dishonest, and we will not forget.

She's so crafty as to insult with praise, divide with unity, and mock with sincerity. Evil genius, indeed!

(37,748 posts)We happily see what best validates our bias. We angrily reject any other explanation. It's a human trait we will hopefully overcome one day, allowing us to observe the obvious rather than interpret the convenient.

(27,677 posts)Sanders: "We! Us!! We!"
People have constructed word clouds from their speeches and Sanders is always talking about 'us' and 'we' where Clinton is more 'I" and 'me.' I know, not a huge revelation but I see that in that picture.
