Bernie Sanders Calls MEETING at His Home in Vermont Sunday to Discuss Campaign’s Future

Sen. Bernie Sanders plans to get together Sunday night in his hometown of Burlington, Vt., with a couple of dozen of his closest supporters, an aide announced Friday.Sanders is spending the weekend in his Vermont home-base but is booked to appear on several Washington-based TV news shows on Sunday morning.

“He and Jane invited a couple dozen key supporters from around the country to come to Burlington to get their input and advice and talk about how to move forward,” said Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs. “It will be a broad-ranging discussion.”

Briggs said he expected "a lot of thoughtful discussion among smart people and good friends."

CNN reports:

Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison said that he “just might go,” while Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva, another Sanders supporter, said he definitely plans to meet with Sanders this weekend to discuss the path forward for his campaign.

“He’s seeking our advice after meeting with others here and wants to meet with supporters,” said Grijalva, who added that he wanted to push to influence the platform and party rules at the Democratic convention in July.

Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley said Friday on CNN’s “New Day” that Sanders will bring “a group together this coming Sunday to discuss kind of the path forward.”

Briggs said that Sanders will remain in the race at least through Tuesday, when Washington, D.C., will hold the final contest of the primary season.

We've nothing to lose by staying in until the convention. And much to lose if we don't.

The people want this effort to continue.

This is a powerful moment and we need this movement and energy to continue going forward. This is bigger than this election cycle however it plays out.

Trying to be patient and respectful waiting for Sanders to give an indication how he wants his 'revolution' to proceed.

Without his database of supporters, every effort to continue as a movement will be made much much more difficult.

Advancing the principles that Bernie stands for are of utmost importance. Progressivism needs to grow in the country and I am eager to hear Bernie's plan how to proceed. One idea is to have Bernie ask activist young people to run for local offices around the country.

3. There has been some insight into what Bernie has been discussing at these DC meetings with Obama etc

He is trying to figure out a way to get the populist wing incorporated into the Democratic party.

He wants us represented. And I believe he will not concede until he knows for certain that we will be represented.

Remember, all along Bernie said it's up to US not him. As he is winding down his campaign, he will make sure we will become part of the party.

LARRY COHEN: Bernie is not giving in. I mean, again, we are fighting with a—in the platform drafting committee on all the issues we’ve just discussed. We are pushing for reform of the party. He will be talking more to Hillary Clinton. They talked briefly Tuesday night. He’ll be meeting with her. The meeting with the president, the meeting with Senate leaders, what Bernie is trying to figure out is: Is there a way to have a Democratic Party that’s a populist party, and so that supporters, the more than 10 million voters, can be enthusiastic, not about—not just about the nominee for president, but also about where this party is headed, as opposed to feeling like this is a party where, you know, the voters are taken for granted and it’s controlled by the people who raise the money?

I believe something will freeze over before I'd do the other side simply because it'll lead to economic ruin.. if the green party does get within shot of actually winning maybe I'll switch from writing in his name. But right now it's Bernie or Green. and I'm tired of that Spoiled crap total nonsense. I bought into it for awhile. until I figured out what Neo Liberalism meant X_X Conservative. kinda like Democratic Socialist is not Socialist and National Socialist is Nazi's .. zzz reading something the other day discussing this and someoen replied on the Neo Liberalism charge that she's not a Neo Con X_X can't read didn't say Neo Con. And shes hardly a team player. Against Obama? No she's not a Team player. to be a Team player you have to follow not lead. or try to lead when someone says don't.

15. let's stay focused on the convention - as bernie

said - lots can happen between now and the end of july.
lot's of big stuff going on in the background. read around and you will note that a lot of stuff is cooking!

but the convention is key - from there, things will be very clear.

also, CA voters - do not change your party until all of the votes in CA are counted. all of the ballots are being checked and your ballot may not match your voter info if you have already changed.

hang tight, everyone! keep donating to bernie for the convention. no matter what happens next tuesday - bernie is going to the convention to contest.
