Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumBernie Sanders Speaks for the People on GMO Food Labeling
It's enormously freeing for an elected official NOT to be dependent on Corporate Funding.
They are free to actually represent the people who elected them.
90% of Americans WANT their foods labeled.
Yet they cannot get their government to listen
64 other countries have this right, but the US does not.
There is a bill in Congress right now that is a Monstanto Dream Come True.
It is called the 'Dark Act'. It would make it illegal TO label foods.
Congress is being pressured by Monsanto Lobbyists to deny the American people the right to know what they are eating.
If anything highlights the corrupt influence of Money in Politics, it is the stark difference between those who are NOT corporate funded and those who ARE.
Bernie represents the people. And is not afraid to say so.
Get this poisonous money out of our Electoral System.
I have a feeling Bernie will be making it a huge issue in this campaign.

(9,126 posts)But you just activated the bat signal. The Woo Warriors! will be here soon telling you that people are too stupid to make decisions about what they eat. Because we should all shut up and learn to love corpo-fascism: it smells like...Victory.

(62,325 posts)But when I post about the bill now making its way to the floor of Congress, known as the Dark Act, in GD, the bat signal will be working just fine.
Here is like the old Liberal forums, where we used to escape the rhetoric of corporate shills.

(62,325 posts)people want their food labeled. I would say that should be the end of any argument against it, in a democracy that is.
The very fact that the people are being prevented from having that simple right, makes it very clear that Corporations run this country right now.

(9,126 posts)People power is going to have to drive this campaign. Word of mouth and social media. He said he looked into it long and hard before declaring and that he's in it to win, so I believe this isn't tilting at windmills. His favorables are worth a few hundred million at least.

(62,325 posts)what it is known by. 'Keep America in the Dark'.
Several states, about nine I think, are now taking matters into their own hands, NH being the first I think, and are proposing their own legislation to make labeling of GMOS the law in their states.
No doubt Monsanto and their stooges in our government, have been watching this.
The Dark Act would over rule these states, if it were to pass.
So it's important to fight it.
I am doing some research on the bill, and will try to write an OP so people can call their Reps before they get to vote on this.

Think about it, it is not about selling food, it is about selling their patented food.
