Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI'm very pleased to see Bernie in the mix. He could well change the political paradigm of the US.
Today, we have so much of the same old stuff warmed over or tweaked. We need a new direction. I would not like to see HRC just slide into a nomination.

(25,183 posts)He has to ramp up his personality a notch. Saw him on TV this morning, quite frankly, I fell back to sleep.
He needs to get people excited, and not just the folks who are always paying attention to what's going on.

(8,352 posts)Americans have become sick on all sides of the political spectrum with the cults of personality.
But, if the people are not 'excited' about addressing the real issues that truly impact them and are more excited about his 'personality', his hair, or is lack of youthful appeal, then frankly, we deserve the rot we have gotten and continue to get.
Sanders true appeal is that he doesn't need an army of stylists, PR specialists, and opinion polls to know where he stands on the important issues of our day and age.

(25,183 posts)At least if he could show some solid enthusiasm for his ideas, that would be a start.
It's long been said that running for President requires a certain fire in the belly. Elizabeth Warren at least looks like she has some fire, all I'm hoping is that Bernie will be seen to have it.
They gave him some valuable TV time yesterday, hopefully he has advisors who gauge how it impacted people. Maybe they'll even read my comments.

I don't want to see him being that way in every interview or speech. Remember the Dean yell?!

(18,791 posts)Unfortunately, to win the majority of those that cast ballots, he is going to have some of the President Obama charisma...and, regrettably, he's going to need to comb the hair.
The superficial factor does count, no matter what anyone says.

(10,336 posts)off-message, as evidenced by his years of staying on point and- if not exactly leading our country out of the woods- then, at least being a lamplighter. I have a feeling we might just get back to our roots.
