Creighton graduate joins Bernie Sanders’ campaign

An Omaha woman, Symone D. Sanders, on Saturday was named national press secretary for the presidential campaign of Bernie Sanders, the independent U.S. senator from Vermont.

The appointment was announced in Seattle, according to social media. Bernie Sanders is making a three-day swing through the Northwest.

She worked on Nebraska Democrat Chuck Hassebrook’s campaign for governor in 2014 and was a member of Omaha’s charter review convention committee in 2013.

In 2006, while a student at Mercy High School, she was selected to introduce former President Bill Clinton at a Girls Inc. event in Omaha. Sanders recalled the honor in 2012, telling The World-Herald that she wanted the job so badly that she begged, pushed and wrote her way onto the stage. She ended up being written into Clinton’s book on giving, and she caught the eye of a law firm, which gave her summer internships....

She seems like a great choice for the position.

She brings a younger voice to the campaign, that sounds up to date on what is happening (as she said) with black, brown, transgendered kids/community.

Seems that she has a lot of experience with her past activities and has that broad picture of what's going on in America.

Not only will she have a great voice for Bernie...but I sincerely hope that she can talk to the AA community about Bernie's background and his support for all Americans, regardless of color, creed, sex, religion, orientation....
