Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumBernie is going all in on social justice
This speech in Portland, the addition of Symone Sanders to his campaign, and his racial justice plan are huge steps forward. A lot of Black Lives Matter activists are praising him for listening and adjusting his message.
He is listening and learning. We should stand behind him as we reach out to the black community and Bernie makes his case. He's not bashing BLM or telling protestors to leave him alone or anything else. He's just going to listen, learn, and take action. He's a man of the people.
That's who he is, and that's why I'm supporting him for President.

(248 posts)as a black, gay man I know he is the best hope we have of really changing this country for the better. I have, and always will follow his example and I hope more of his supporters do the same. This fight is too important to lose.

who are dedicated to destroying him, regardless of anything he does. And they are claiming he and his supporters don't care about black lives. And that is so wrong and so sad, I don't even know how to address it any more.

(217 posts)Misery loves company, so leave the naysayers to wallow in their own nasty. We cannot change their minds with our words because their minds are closed. I feel it's like feeding trolls, I guess. They want to piss us off.
Fuck 'em, I say.

(46,179 posts)of those BLM activists praising him? It would be uplifting for many who've felt a bit bludgeoned.
I'd love for all of Sander's supporters to be as positive, inclusive, and active as he is being in response to BLM actions.

(1,290 posts)Folks made demands loudly. They protested. They got the beginnings of a tangible policy. Passive voting probably wouldn't have yielded this.
If Bernie plays his cards right, the BLM interruption could be the best thing to happen to his campaign.
An amazing document. It would not exist if #BlackLivesMatter had not stepped up. Other campaigns will have to follow
The Sanders campaign just released the beginnings of a racial justice platform that has many strong elements, influenced by the movement.
