is Bernie VP pick speculation.
I think I'd like to see Barbara Lee, but I worry about name recognition issues. Castro (either of them) might be too young. Brown would be perfect, but I don't want to lose TWO Dem senate caucus votes, especially since we might not be able to replace Brown with a Dem in Ohio when Bernie wins.
Ok, back to your happiness

(17,997 posts)I do believe he needs to pick a female. And you're right about the Senate. We can't lose a seat! I'm thinking Wendy Davis. Name recognition, absolutely great on women's issues, southern and female.
Thoughts?

(14,733 posts)We keep fighting to get enough people to turn Texas purple, and as both a 'southerner' and a Texan specifically, I think she'd bring a great energy to the ticket. I think in that post, you've already converted me to wanting a Sanders/Davis ticket.
Great on women's issues, and, given the 'concern' over Sanders age from some, she'd be a vibrant young VP who could step in if some health issue did arise.

(17,997 posts)I kinda love the idea. Just thought it this morning

(1,615 posts)or would be if we didn't keep throwing black men in jail.
slash immigrants who live there could vote.
the town where I grew up had an even more 'liberal' vibe than where I am now, and I live in new england.
it's just all the white fundie asshats who fuck it up for the rest of us.

I think it is going to have to be someone from a southern state. Florida may be south but it isn't "southern"
Jackpine Radical
(45,274 posts)but runs pretty far to the right of Bernie on economic issues.
I think he has to avoid looking like he's picking someone just for political advantage. You know--
Female............Check.
Southern.........Check
Attractive........Check
Not Palin.........Check
That said, I haven't a clue.

(62,325 posts)probably have no idea who the current VP is.
We can help people get to know her.
As to the OP, I agree, this is a great group.

(17,997 posts)You can edit your avatar and your sig line. There are choices for Bernie pics on this link

If you need more information just let me know
Lifelong Protester
(8,421 posts)but do not see the cool 'ready for Bernie' option and don't see a sig line option for pictures, just text. I'm a 'techno-dope' I guess.

(17,997 posts)Pick the avarice you want and load it into your computer or phone. Then edit the avatar, pick to choose your own, pick the picture you want on your computer or phone, then hit to upload
On the sig line, you do it like you would a picture on a post. Use photobucket or a similar site, and put the link in the space given for the signature line.
I hope I explained that well enough
Lifelong Protester
(8,421 posts)you can't do it? I have the banner on my computer in my photos, but I don't use any ' off sites'. Any ideas of how I can still do it?
marym625
(17,997 posts)To use my photobucket for the signature line
Take this but remove the space between http: and the //. Paste into the signature line box

(32,060 posts)we understand. He is anti-fascism, anti-corporatism. It is so refreshing to have a candidate to support (as opposed to just holding your nose & voting for lesser of two evils).

(16,380 posts)There is a thread elsewhere that is a perfect example of what I (and most of us I believe) do NOT want this group to become.
And when I see meta crap like that crop up in this group I am going to do my level best to see them locked.
Please be civil out in GD if you can.
Do NOT take the bait.

Yes, we're good. I expect a slip now and then. The poster did the right thing deleting

(16,380 posts)And thank you for addressing it.
No, I meant elsewhere. As in another group.
I obviously got mixed up. The one you are talking about speaks for itself. The poster and the replies and the incredibly obvious hypocrisy

(45,274 posts)Actually, I feel a tremendous sense of relief at seeing Bernie in the race. It's like Borowitz said. I'm kinda totally flummoxed by having a candidate whose views match mine more closely than anyone since George McGovern. (Can you believe it? Some people think Borowitz writes satire!)
marym625
(17,997 posts)No!
Yeah, some of his stuff is so spot on it's difficult to decipher the satire from the reality

(3,247 posts)All the people whose posts I've enjoyed for years, and none of those who've been deliberately annoying progressives for years. It rather decisively shifts the balance on the question "is DU worth the time, energy and aggravation?" when you eliminate the aggravation factor as we head into primary season.
Thanks for keeping it friendly and positive.

(45,274 posts)I just think we want to be principled people backing a principled candidate in ways that allow us to live with ourselves, in hopes of advancing causes we hold dear to us--causes pretty much like those FDR advanced 70 years ago. with his "Four Freedoms"--
Freedom of speech
Freedom of worship
Freedom from want
Freedom from fear
and maybe a few more, like freedom from surveillance and freedom from species extinction.
We could probly have some fun adding to the list.

(17,997 posts)The alerts have definitely helped me decide what to do. That and comments on the post. But yeah, if it's ify or by a known Bernie supporter and just venting, definitely give the chance to self delete
I locked one post and didn't give the chance to self delete. But I did offer to unlock and let them self delete.
