Bernie Sanders

here in The City That Shall Not Be Named. Ah, fuck it, I'm not involved with the local Party Loyalists anymore so, Fresno. Anyway, we didn't organize quick enough to have a table so we just were outside where people drove into the parking lot with signs, fliers, wearing out Bernie T-Shirts and talkin' about Bernie. (OK, the Spanish speakers were talking about Bernie it was my job to stand there and look beautiful ) Anyway, I mean how hard was that? It didn't have to go through any committees, we didn't have to "unify our message" we didn't have to check with the local party loyalists to clear the event. Screw that. If you want to get out and campaign for Bernie it's just a matter of picking a time and place and do it. Doesn't cost anything except time. Now THAT'S a grassroots campaign!

(26,449 posts)I just got off the phone with someone in the campaign. We are basically encouraged to simply go forth and be awesome for Bernie.
Now how we're going to pay for the brochures, buttons and stickers we want to hand out remains to be seen.

(22,271 posts)so I just downloaded and copied the brochures. One of the guys in our small group had bought some yard signs and we put those out for advertising. As I said, all of this was last minute. One of the things you can do to get bumper stickers, etc., is to have people buy them and then donate them to your group. That way you can just hand them out and you don't get in trouble with the locals or the FEC in terms of fundraising, limits, etc. If you do charge for those items you have to check to see what the limits are, file paperwork and a few other things of which I don't have specifics. That's why we're trying to bypass all that and get bumper sticker/signage donations and just handing them out to people we think will use them.

Le Taz Hot
(22,271 posts)put on deodorant. Hell, I even wore a damned bra on a Saturday so, no, I didn't bring voter registration forms for this one but we'll have them for the next one. Remember, I had two hours' notice and the Registrar's office isn't open on Saturday.

(8,203 posts)You get a pass - ..find your local Democratic Headquarters..they have or should have plenty of forms..call ahead - I am heavily involved in voter registration here in AZ..have been since 2008...working for GEMDEM - $0.00 for a paycheck...
Your involvement is critical- good for you!
Le Taz Hot
(22,271 posts)Well, in that I'd like to remain alive for awhile longer I think I'll go to the registrar's office instead. Long story. Trust me, you don't want to hear it, but thank you for the encouragement.
