Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumMy personal plan for supporting the Sanders Campaign
1. Make regular financial contributions that are meaningful relative to my income and obligations
2. Organize a benefit concert with my network of local musicians
3. Host a fundraising BBQ this summer
4. Encourage everyone I know to register as a Democrat so they can vote in the Democratic primary, provide links, forms, and facilitate any way I can- many people I know are registered without party affiliation
5. Keep printed materials with me when I am out in the community running errands. I always shop in the same places and use the same services. There will be lots of opportunity to share with people I know.
6. Keep talking about the issues
7. Write letters to the editors of local papers
Please share some of the things you are doing. We can all do different kinds of things and we could get ideas from each other.

(10,420 posts)Right now, the only way I can support the campaign is through monetary donations. I might be able to do more in the future.

(17,045 posts)...we're all in this together. Everyone does what they can when they can. But you already do more than that by being a visible supporter.

(20,453 posts)I'm gonna post this, then do it. I happened to have earned more hours and in fact, I'm going to commit every pay that I DO earn more hours, that the balance outside what we've budgeted to to Bernie's campaign.
I will also write LTE, as will my husband. Those are no-brainer, but need to be timed appropriately.
I like your idea of printed materials being kept on you. Thanks for that.

We've got your back, Senator Sanders.

(36,670 posts)along with working in my area if possible. Hillary is going to have a lot of support amongst the dems here (Latina women like Hillary - which is not a bad thing if she ends up the nominee). I live south of Houston.

(57,936 posts)I will talk to voters. Assuming Bernie sells tee-shirts, etc., I will buy some and sell them at cost.

(23,867 posts)This is new for me, as I have always kept politlics to myself. I am surprised at how receptive people have been. And it is because I genuinely know that Bernie is everything we need in a president. And I have never had good luck getting people to hear what I have to say. Not this time. It feels good.
I'm also going to put out a yard sign, which I would have never even considered until now.
I've already written letters.
Oh, and I have a moble app that a friend has just released that I'm going to present to the Sanders campaign office in the hopes that it will come in useful for communicating meet-ups with supporters.

I'll be kicking in a donation once in a while.

(45,251 posts)so I guess his campaign will be providing leaflets. Meanwhile, maybe "Bernie on the Issues" can be printed out.
BTW, supermarkets are a great for leafleting, informing people about voter registration in their state, etc. They say he is appealing to young people, so colleges would be a good place to register voters if anyone can get there soon enough with voter registration materials. If not, there's always summer school classes and September.
Tip of the hat

I get torn between donating the money straight to him and being a walking free ad for him. But, I need a tote!

(4,775 posts)So far I have made a very small donation (very broke or would give more) and exchanged a couple of emails with Chuck Todd in response to FAIR's study showing he is giving Bernie no love compared to other less credible candidates (he certainly didn't budge in his position though that it was all cooked up by FAIR to get attention for them). Talking up Bernie with everyone I know. Will get a bumper sticker and volunteer too.
Let's do this, people, if we don't do it, nobody will!

(62,325 posts)would be a good way to get people excited about Bernie, and have some videos of him talking about the issues to hand out, plus some print material, like Matt Taibbi's great article in RS.
All of them are great.
Another thing we should do is use Social Media accounts we have to circulate information, print and video material about Bernie.
Maybe start following other DUers and keep passing material around Twitter eg.
Get people to use a hashtag to try to get Bernie Sanders trending.
My 10-year-old also wants to go door-to-door, and he asked his teacher if he could get extra credit for an essay on Bernie Sanders.
Keep us posted if/when you do a concert in your area.
