I seem to be late to the party.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Autumn (a host of the Bernie Sanders group).

What is up with the acrimony between Sanders' supporters and the AA group? Or the Clinton group for that matter?

Taking our cues from Bernie, wouldn't it be better just to let everyone have her/his turn at the microphone for as long as she/he wants?

Sanders supporters do not need to shut down opposing voices, IMHO.

Sanders supporters should stick to the issues. Nobody is nearly as strong on the issues for all working people of all races, genders and orientations. If Sanders supporters stick to the issues, everything else will work itself out.

Others can play dirty. I don't think Sanders' supporters need to return fire. We the People are sick of corporate candidates and our rigged political system. That's really all that needs to be said.

Am I right or am I delusionally naive?

a warning from the AA group. I was called an asshole. I posted my despair in GD and it was immediately alerted and jury voted 4-3 to hide. In the explanation someone wrote how BS fans went from not accepting a black president to not being accepting of a female president. So they had looked at my profile. And the notion that Sanders fans are against Obama seemed strange! Weren't Hillary fans from 2008 against Obama? And I love Obama!
Not a good day for me on DU. Never banned or alerted on before or not that I remember.

snail-mailing a nasty note to a DU Clinton supporter. A federal crime, some say.
And a lot of Clinton peeps whining about Sanders 'alert stalkers'. That's about it.

Not exactly a major issue that the American People want to know about, is it?

It just makes me sad, for DU mostly.

It's trolls who are trying to stir up trouble. In time the trolls doing this will trip up and they will be outed. So hang in there and ignore the maelstrom until it's over.

and wish I could not even have it on DU when I'm logged in (to prevent accidentally even opening it). I find it "disturbing".

Same for the HRC Group.

I highly recommend exiting the groups if you find yourself there, no questions asked and no statements made...the simplest and most innocent of posts will set them off into a meltdown.

Fri Sep 11, 2015, 12:48 AM

that a few HRC supporters manipulated a few AA group members into thinking that most, if not all, Bernie supporters were racist. So a few upset AA members reacted with anger toward Bernie supporters, and a few more HRC supporters jumped in and fed the flames for all it was worth, shamefully and shamelessly sowing division and pandemonium across several threads. And now some AA members appear to hate most Bernie supporters and the worst HRC supporters still egg them on. I, myself, never observed racist comments from Bernie supporters; I think I saw a few people becoming angry about the BLM disruptions, but no racism.

That's how it looked to me.

Sanders and his supporters had a race problem because BLM had shut him down twice. Then they got hauled off by police and weren't allowed to talk when they tried to protest Hillary, so the meme did pretty much a 180 and became that Sanders was weak at standing up to BLM. But many people remember the earlier manipulation. Point is Hillary supporters run a dirty campaign, and will do anything to avoid a honest discussion of the issues.

and it is depressing. Some rather dysfunctional sorts out there; has me wondering if people might resemble their candidates. But that, of course, would be a wildly self-congratulatory notion for a Bernie supporter, so in the interests of humility, I shall refrain from all such thoughts.
