(1,220 posts)She was invited to speak at her D.C. Methodist parish's bicentennial service. So was Chelsea, who was very active in the church's youth group.
Nothing nefarious about it. Your biases are showing.

Did Clinton mention anything about them?
LiberalElite
(14,691 posts)it implies that no one else has values but them. H is going for their vote? Now my vote is even MORE out of reach for HRC. (as if such a thing could be possible.)

Autumn
(48,952 posts)I'm not aware that she did say this but - fucking "values voters"??? All that means to me is conservative Repugs.
Autumn
(48,952 posts)don't give a fuck about values, of any kind.

(5,141 posts)I think Hillary has been listening to some almost criminally bad advice. The numerous incarnations she's had, the off-balance messaging...it's like she has some GOP mole inside her campaign dying to ruin it. She went from being derided for her "I'm not staying home and baking cookies" remark as the candidate's wife to sending boxes of household items to donors.
This is what happens when you've been stage-managed so carefully for the past 25 years that you are no longer your authentic self, but a reaction to polling numbers and market research.

(41,600 posts)Gotta go check out the "Values Voters" bull. Where do they get this shit?
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)I've certainly been moving in that direction for a while, just thought I would make it official.

(80,708 posts)"authenticity" and rather than doing what I think she ought to do- namely, switch gears and start coming out with actual proposals on concrete issues that people are interested in- as opposed to the mushy pablum she's put out so far- they instead decided to go this tired-ass Bob Shrum route of loudly proclaiming religious faith, and yes, going after the mythical "values voter".

I suspect this sudden uptick in "messaging" about Hillary and faith is related to 4-5 days ago her people talking about "rolling out" more "authenticity", and to my mind it fits in perfectly with the crappy way she's been running her campaign to date, and it bodes ill for it EVER improving.
I like Sanders, I like what he's been saying, and now I support him for President. EOM.

(80,708 posts)I was afraid this was gonna be a campaign of meaningless pablum and "my favorite bible verse".
Like the song says, I wanted to be wrong.

(5,141 posts)Religion is dying everywhere and she's talking about the Bible? For fuck's sale when is someone going to say that they were influenced by, oh, I dunno, John Locke or David Hume?

(41,600 posts)Is she going to buy a ranch in Crawford, Texas too? That is exactly what the idiot-in-chief did - he all of a sudden found religion (after Rove showed him how/where/what/when) and then ran out to buy the ranch in Crawford so he could be from "the heartland" - a regular guy.
Then immediately sold the prop ranch when he left office. Now Hillary's taking a page from Rove's playbook. Sickening.

(18,791 posts)The more I've learned, the more I've heard Bernie speak, the more I've read about Bernie...I'm more excited about him being President, than any other candidate in my life.
About an hour ago, picked up his book "The Essential Bernie Sanders and his Vision for America" at Powell's Books in Portland, Oregon (well, actually in Beaverton
)!
Thank you for being on board.
Go Bernie!

(80,708 posts)It's good. Not as comprehensive as the downtown one, but it'll do.

(1,253 posts)It's not HRC's fault. She's a product of a sold-out system. Bernie's movement is seeking to change that system, and it seems to be popular mind-set. LET'S DO THIS!

(35,176 posts)I thought you already were with us but welcome! I had not heard the values voter tag yet but just the story of her speaking in church knowing what kind of religion she was up to with The Family was enough.

This is kinda neat. Someone needs to make little action figures, labeled 1.0, 2.0, 3.0... each one labeled with its special superpower and in a different colored pantsuit. I wanna collect 'em all!
I hear that some time around Thanksgiving, they'll be issuing Hillary 9.0: Socialist Hillary!

This crap about HRC courting "values voters" was the last straw, for yours truly.
