The "invisible primary" -

This is what I am reading today in the NYTimes:

Today, her dominance in the invisible primary yielded another victory. Vice President Joe Biden’s decision to stay out of the presidential race leaves Mrs. Clinton as the only viable mainstream candidate in the race. It gives her an opportunity to unite the coalition of moderate, nonwhite and older voters who traditionally have an edge over the white progressives who now support Bernie Sanders. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/22/upshot/joe-bidens-decision-and-hillary-clintons-victory.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=b-lede-package-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0

These people (Nate Cohen, NYTimes, et al) are on drugs. Seriously. There is no "coalition" coming together for Hillary- we all want Bernie. The majority on DU want Bernie. The only folks who don't want Bernie are crazy republicans, republican lights (aka third way), and their media minions.

2. I heard on a local radio station here that the

Democrats were solidly behind Hillary while the Repubs were in disarray. Really?
I found that comment really annoying. I guess the primaries have already been decided?

3. No, there are plenty of people who will vote for Hillary.

Because the media tells them she's the best candidate, that she will 'win', that she'll be historic, and so on. Go out and ask random strangers who they plan to vote for, and what they know about that person's policies. Then find a way to cheer yourself up at the depressing state of political knowledge in the US electorate.

4. And yet the HRC supporters say the Corp-Media (yes the one and same donating heavily

to her campaign) hate her. She is the corp candidate and the corps love her. The corps will do anything to keep the People from getting any power.

6. A comment on the NY Times story re: Biden not running - and referring to the "invisible primary":

"Invisible primary = the opinions the mainstream media devise and then provide to us as our own."

So far it has 27 recommendations (a/k/a "likes" and is a "Times Pick".

"NYT Picks are a selection of comments that represent a range of views and are judged the most interesting and thoughtful. In some cases, NYT Picks may be selected to highlight comments from a particular region, or readers with first-hand knowledge of an issue."

That's a good comment! It can be so frustrating some days. We know exactly what they are doing but it is very difficult to stop them.

9. Watch her language change and her stances self correct

At this moment in time, I physically retch at the site of any of the Clintons---and I am including the kid as well.

10. It will very interesting to see how "the kid" proceeds -

after many years of refusal to expose her to the press she is now 35 years old and starting to form a very public persona with her facebook account, photo ops at Food Banks, etc. I would be extremely surprised if she does not run for office given the current posturing. The same is true of George P. Bush and he has already gotten himself on the Land Commission here in TX (more powerful than you would think - it was a good move so clearly he didn't think of it himself). Clinton/Bush will continue through the decades ... as we might expect with a fascist regime.

She's getting a much earlier head start with the big-money crowd, too.

11. This is the Clinton rebound (and it was earned)

But it is a rebound from a campaign with lots of flaws, and which still exist. The Republicans were given a gift in that Secretary Clinton was making unforced errors followed by tone deaf comments. This hurt her campaign.

The Republicans looked like fools as they overplayed their hand, and Clinton adeptly used that against them. She now enjoys a rebound from that.

But the flaws of her campaign, as I see them, (waffling on the TPP, looking weaker than Warren and Sanders on banking and Wall street regulation, progressive taxation, Social Security, and just all things in general her "moderate" positions put her in) will have a negative impact among some Democrats voting in the primaries. And this is in addition to her unforced errors like laughing about being investigated by the FBI. In retrospect it might indeed all turn out to be little more than a joke, but now's not the time to look like the issue is beneath you.

But at the moment Clinton is rightfully basking in the affection of her supporters who've been reassured by her debate performance, while they're all laughing at the discomfiture of Republicans who are being being widely derided in the press.

And yet, the issues of this campaign aren't ever going away; brought to such major prominence by Senator Sanders, they remain to be fought over, and loom with great imminence. No bounce for Secretary Clinton will blind people to how the debates over these issues unfold.
