Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumIt looks like Hillary Clinton proved her stuff
It also looks like to me that the Washington Elite would rather have Hillary because Bernie is gaining on her. Teapublicans want anybody but Hillary with the exception of Bernie.
Don't be fooled - this was theater. We're going to hear 24/7 how Presidential she is, but a deal was cut.
Washington does not want Bernie, and that's exactly why we need him.

(14,177 posts)From the little I saw she looked great. She went after the Republicans they threw a lot of crap at her and nothing landed. And then I thought yeah MSM is going to be all over how presidential she looked and her courage under fire. And you are correct TPTB is terrified of what it would mean if Bernie won the GE. In fact I think they are afraid of his running and winning the nomination. Just his running is causing a huge shift to the left.

We need PAY!
We need RETIREMENT!
We need HEALTH CARE!
We need AFFORDABLE COLLEGE EDUCATION!
We need DIPLOMATIC SANITY ...
I applaud her performance today, but that doesn't mean she is the best choice for President ...
I can't buy into the larger "scenario".

(39,961 posts)We have got to change the direction our country is heading in. She's absolutely not the person to do it, and she will be worse with warmongering than President Obama. I am thankful as hell he was elected, because while he has done his share of waging war, he has done a phenomenal job of keeping us out of them.
We dodged a bullet when he was elected.

(43,979 posts)Then he got in a shitload of trouble for telling the truth. Hard to believe Gowdy has a 'secret deal' with HRC.
Sorry with all due respect, this CT doesn't make sense, and it certainly doesn't help Bernie get the nomination.
Pretty sure Bernie would be mortified by this. JMHO Though. If you want to promote it, have at it.

(23,671 posts)But think about it, why give the main opponent an entire day on national TV to garner sympathy?
Thats no way to "destroy" a rival.
Especially one that you had spent 15+ years on opposition research for an eventual Presidential election.

(51,907 posts)My first thought was "Too damned polite by half." Then I realized the political optics of her approach. My husband said that I would probably have called them all sociopathic shitstains, which would have turned into the only story. Which is why I'm a behind the scenes data person, doorbeller and phonebanker instead of the public face of a camapgn.

(39,961 posts)I'm glad she lost in 2008. We'd probably be in a quagmire of epic proportions worse than the fact that we have troops everywhere and can't withdraw them now.
I have plenty to criticize President Obama for, but his reluctance to wade into Syria is one of the best decisions he has ever made. He has kept us from waging MORE wars than he has cast us into waging, and I cannot take that away from him.

(44,748 posts)Looking back Obama has been tops in Foreign Policy. He has handled Syria and Iran in the best possible way. I eagerly anticipate reading his memoirs when he's out of office.

(7,006 posts)The D.C. Theater was in its full disgusting swing today. Personally, made me want to . All over the place (MSM/DU) the cry is She is like President and stuff and stuff, like right now. Almost like Bernie has not been campaigning and drawing the BIGGEST CROWDS over the last three months or like he's like neck and neck in Iowa and leading in New Hampshire.
It's really quite disgusting. But, at least our neighbor to the North (Canada) knows what a good Liberal/Progressive looks like when they see one, as they just elected one after ten years under Harper nation. Got a feeling if the Establishment does a Good Man like Bernie in with this BS Third Way So-Called "Progressive" when convenient candidate, someone will be spending more and more time in Canada -- when not working in America..... #JustSaying

Hillary's got opposition from all segments of the electorate.
Bernie's got opposition from the Democratic operatives and the 1%.
Fortunately, the electorate gets the last word (unless corruption).

(592 posts)I do not support HRC for a multitude of reasons, but none of them have a thing to do with Benghazi.
I am glad she did well there, but I will not vote for her. Oh and for every HRC supporter posting here, shame on you! I got banned for posting an emoji in that group, looked like this so I think it got misconstrued.... (snooze)

(41,600 posts)with a passion. I watched the entire hearing today on CSpan and the Repub callers were NOT nice and there were even some Dem callers who were just disgusted by ANOTHER Clinton scandal.
Should she be able to steal the election, she can't win it. Republicans hate her so much, they will show up in droves to vote against her, not to mention the millennials who won't vote for her and she cannot win without the millennial vote.
Bernie is going to win the nomination. Clinton fatigue and Hillary baggage will give the nomination to Bernie.

Hillary:
FRACKING
PRISONS for PROFITS
HER FRIENDS ARE WALL ST. GREEDY THIEVES
She supports the TPP
She supports GMOs and Monsanto
She voted for the IWR
She voted for the Patriot Act
She voted for the Bankruptcy Bill
She supports tax loopholes
She is connected to large Corporations which have bought this country - lock, stock and barrel

(14,755 posts)there is no way that Hillary will come close to being as progressive as Bernie. Especially on the economy and climate change, which are by far the most important things going on in America right now.

(248 posts)reluctantly vote for Hillary if she were the nominee. My reasons are more out of laziness I guess. If Hillary were president we would have much more work to do to hold her feet to the fire to actually push for progressive change. With Bernie, we already know that he'd do that himself without needing to be prompted much. I am tired of constantly having to convince, persuade, threaten, coerce our elected officials to simply represent OUR interests over wall street and Koch bros. I'm tired of having to go out and protest, desperately trying to prevent bad laws from being imposed on us. I am ready to start being on the offensive for once. That's why Bernie is my guy.
