WASHINGTON The quotations he posts, rarely pithy, are often sayings he thinks up in the shower. The photographs he puts up sometimes show him frowning, while others show him gazing oddly into the horizon. And he does not seem to care about the importance of videos.
But somehow, Bernie Sanders, the 73-year-old senator from Vermont, has emerged as a king of social media early in the 2016 presidential campaign, amid a field of tech-savvy contenders.
His Facebook posts attract tens of thousands of likes and shares, and threads about him often break through to the home page of Reddit, where the cluster of topics rarely focuses on presidential election politics.
Im a grumpy old guy, Mr. Sanders joked when explaining his approach to posting online. I know that people talk about their cats and Im walking to the grocery store and getting a can of chicken soup and this is so exciting. By and large, we have not done that.

Now it's paying off for him.
Even if the media ends up ignoring him, which they probably will, it won't matter. Young people especially don't get their news from the MSM anyhow.
Thanks for all you do to help people get to know him!

(41,831 posts)He is for sure my Candidate..though I hesitate to push too much for him on twitter. I really hate the negative messages, though I can block them. So far there are none, but by doing so I paint a target on my back for all the Rightwingers.. especially the Racist ones. It troubles me that, that kind of crap is on Twitter. It was one of the reasons why I left Facebook, because of the constant attacks. I guess it comes with the territory... when you put yourself "out there" like that.

(62,325 posts)information. Since I began retweeting Bernie info, I haven't yet encountered any negative responses. It probably will happen, but I'll just block them I guess.
So far it's been positive though. Hope it stays that way!
