This is what I like about Sanders. His INTEGRITY and his ability to unapologetically SAY what IS.

"Regarding phone calls to the DNC, call their cash donation line instead. That number is 877-336-7200. Calling this number forces live staff to deal with you, and keeps them from getting a donation call at the same time. You can use the call to tell them why you are refusing to donate. Let them know that you won't donate another dime until they get rid of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz as DNC chair. They will take notes. They guy who took my message even seemed embarrassed and seemed to agree.
Call now, operators standing by."

I think hillary is no better than a Republican and no president could overturn your marriage anyway. just as no republican has yet been able to overturn roe v wade.
the argument that I should vote for someone who speaks of of both sides of her mouth isn't a good argument. if she can't win without my vote than than maybe you need a candidate who really is on your side...like Bernie.
dbackjon
(6,578 posts)Marriage only passed by a 5-4 vote. And the leading candidates on the GOP want to appoint justices that will overturn it.
So excuse me if I value MY marriage rights more than your elitism.

I am 100% for marriage equality, by way.

(5,562 posts)We had Harper for 10 years in Canada and even he didn't go there much as he and his base would have liked that, but his meanness and warmongering was pretty hard to take. (29,173 posts)Further, what makes you think Clinton will do g*ddamn thing for LGBT Americans? She'll nominate the 1% choices for the Court and they won't give an obese rodent's hindquarters for LGBT's rights. Just in case you haven't noticed, a POTUS can't overturn a Court ruling. As usual she let someone else do the dirty work.
She's been bought and paid for. This latest slime slinging is a good example.
I'm not buying the vote for her because she won't be as bad as a Republican. Maybe not, but she'll probably do a fair imitation
dbackjon
(6,578 posts)2000 proved that.

(819 posts)DWS and the Third Way takeover and RIGGING the primary event is eye opening. They are the ones hurting the Democratic Party and those of us who belong to it.... or belong to it for now. FISA vote in 2008 was so devastating for me, I considered leaving and registering Ind. ACA became watered down and no public option (thanks, Blue Dogs.) My DINO rep voted against ACA. Again, I had felt let down by Democratic representation beholden to corporate interests and mulled changing to Ind.
Now this. When is enough enough? How much holding the nose to vote for the lesser evil and swallowing the bile raising up do we have to bear for some gains, some real losses?
The GOP is crooked, the DNC is ... what? Less evil and crooked to a degree?
Somewhere and some time we've gotta hold their feet to the fire. Where are the FDRs? The Bobby Kennedys?
Our party is broken and fractured and you can look squarely at DWS carrying water for HRC for brokenness, lack of trust, and feelings of genuine betrayal.

Bernie, on the other hand, has a much easier path to the nomination and victory than Clinton, thanks to DNC's recent screwup. When the evidence comes out (as it has - check out the recent report from NPR), DNC and its vendors are culpable, not the Sanders campaign.

(9,314 posts)but when a politician is running for an election, his or her database of voters/donors is EVERYTHING. It is the most important tool to facilitate a positive outcome in raising money and courting votes. To remove the access to that so close to the Iowa and New Hampshire caucuses hampers the Sanders' campaign is doing this important work. It could mean lost revenue and lost votes. It is kind of like pulling the rug out from underneath the campaign at a time when it might be impossible to make up the lost work. It is that close.
And I salute you back,

There are very few people that will be in politics without tons of baggage including:
hidden money transfers
friends who know friends who want some favors
sleeping around
proposing bills that are geared to friends/lovers/blackmailers
...getting tired, but every vice and avarice can be found in the candidates and government
Bernie probably has a few also but I don't think it has been part of his life story.
DWS and the rest of the DLC are in bed with a one candidate.

But I don't care if we have to resort to internet only communications, Bernie should put up a page where people can re-input the information "that woman" is withholding (she who happens to be Hillary's BFF and inside plant at the head of the DNC).
It really is not going to matter much longer. Once Bernie wins Iowa and New Hampshire, the tide will turn drastically in his favor.
Especially now, in the winter season (officially starts Monday) we should all trudge forward with a profound faith in the every day citizen, who knows right from wrong.
