...(as we Bernie supporters are always labeled), this was belly-laugh funny!! Thanks!

(I do have to admit that over time I find the similarities are getting more pronounced.)

Ones a facistic enabler of psychopaths and the others a fictional character?

Sry, couldn't resist. Cosmetics the only similarity i can see. Hillary isn't left enough, Delores was nutbar.

Most of us are politically savvy, and we know that mentioning a woman's appearance drops their electability by 5%. We've seen this with Geraldine Ferraro, HRC's first run, and with Sarah Palin. Criticizing a man's appearance has no negative effects.

I took a university Women and Politics course, and this also casts the presenters in a bad light.

We're better than this. It's going to be used on the GOP side, so that says it's probably not a good practice.

Whether as a 'joke' or not, the message delivery still has the same damaging effects to female candidates.

I thought they looked similar because of the similar clothes and hair style.

Regardless of how this 'innocent' image is described, it has an impact with women that men do not experience.

Used in political cartoons for over a century and a half, with men and women.

(Hopefully, I won't get banned on the Bernie thread, like I got on the HRC one today, by posting a neutral entry.)

Perhaps you could research some articles on this, especially from Rutgers Eagleton's CAWP site.

It's pretty enlightening. Those same 'jokes' were used with most every female candidate.
The researched fact that men are not affected by this, but women are, shows a split in societal views.

...but I really didn't see the meme that way. (And I'm female.)

However, that being said, if someone is not familiar with the Harry Potter movies, s/he wouldn't see anything but a comparison of their appearances, so you do make a valid point.
