New Poll Shows Bernie Sanders Gaining Ground in New Hampshire

New Poll Shows Bernie Sanders Gaining Ground in New Hampshire

A new poll out of New Hampshire, home to the first presidential primaries of 2016, shows Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) gaining support among Democrats in his campaign to upset Hillary Clinton and win the party's nomination.

Commissioned by Bloomberg Politics and Saint Anselm College and conducted by the bipartisan Purple Insights group, the survey found Sanders with 18% backing among Granite State Democrats, up from 8% in February.

That's quite a jump for someone who the 'experts' say doesn't have a chance.

The poll shows that Hillary gained 6 points mainly due to the absence of Warren in this poll.

However Bernie's gains are really pretty impressive considering that back in Oct of last year when they first started to include him in polls, he was a virtual unknown to the public, polling only at 1%.

Against the odds: Still, there is understandable doubt that any candidate — especially one who has said he will not help raise money for any super PAC supporting his candidacy — can compete with the rich and, to date, smartly operated Clinton apparatus. On Sunday, Sanders got the question point-blank from CBS Face the Nation host Bob Schieffer, who asked, "Do you really believe you can beat Hillary Clinton?"

"The answer," Sanders said, "is yes."

How?

"There is, in my view, massive dissatisfaction in this country today with corporate establishment and the greed of corporate America and the incredibly unequal distribution of wealth and income, which currently exists," he told Schieffer, promising to impose a "litmus test" on campaign finance reform for potential Supreme Court nominees.

As Bernie's polls rise, Hillary's and other candidates are going down. No more '82%' polls these days.

And imo, starting out from so far behind, Bernie is like the longshot in a race, steadily catching up, already passing some of the contenders and eventually winning the race.

So all we have to do is to keep on doing what we are doing. Make sure that everyone in the country knows who Bernie is.

And don't forget, these polls are mostly from the Dem Base.

Bernie will be going after the Independent Vote AND the non-voters, people who have given up on politics.

So to see him now cutting into the Dem base so early is pretty encouraging in my view.

2. Thank you. And we have to remember that this poll is of currently registered Dems. People are now

registering as Dems, Indies, and hopefully more and more non-voters (I signed one up yesterday, she is now going to register as a Dem in NY, hasn't voted in years, but loves Bernie).

Maybe his campaign should remind those who are not Dems yet in NH and be counted in such polls, and of course, to be able to vote for Bernie, they need to register as Dems.

13. I'm talking about polls. Not just in NH but all the polls focusing on the Dem primary.

Most of those polls are only polling registered Dems.

More people are going to be registering as Dems so they can vote for Bernie in the primaries where they do not have open primaries and in the GE.

say they are actually excited about voting since Bernie has announced. Over the years democrats and left leaning indies have just stayed home. Depressed about corporate dems they thought they could believe in. Lets face it, that's what gets people to the polls on election day. Voter turnout is abysmal. We are left leaning independents who will now register democrat so we can vote him in the primary.

Thank You Senator. You have my money and vote. Slow and steady wins the race.
Thank you sabrina.

11. I wasn't paying attention to the group...but it's not supposed to be a criticism of Bernie.

Just an observation about the poll results when I read the original article. I even tried to follow the links to the original data and I couldn't get any numbers.

If that's not ok, then I can delete the post. If Bernie (or anyone else) does well in the polls, then that's fine.

I'll vote for the Democrat regardless of who wins the primary.

looking for.

This poll shows that Bernie has jumped ten points 'among Democrats'.

What I would like to see in a couple of months are polls on the Independent vote and the non-voters many of whom are now registering again in order to vote for Bernie.

These are very early polls and will change as they have already, as the campaigns progress.

since the media has already declared President HRC. Listen, Sanders supporters know what's going on. Bernie is just getting started. He has the hard task of getting his name and democratic ideas recognized first. Everyone knows Hillary. So cut him some slack. We respect the man for what he's attempting. He knows it's a huge lift, but he's speaking for people who have been tossed away like an old shoe. He speaks for people who want a future for their kids. He speaks for me as well.

Bernie has a song about him too

Very well said. And because he sincerely CARES about people and always has, he comes across as honest, sincere, a person of integrity, very rare qualities in a politician. And people who listen to him for the first time all seem to have the same reaction, they instantly seem to relate to him.

Great song, thanks for posting it.

I cannot imagine that at least 75% of America wouldn't agree with him.

Everything he says are all (in my mind) common sense, for the vast majority of Americans. How could anyone except Crooks, Creeps, Banksters or PukeBaggerKrazies not get behind him?!?!?

him before. I know he can win this IF the people get to know him and learn that is isn't the typical politician we have become accustomed to, he has a long, long record of consistency on the positions he has taken throughout his long career.

AND he has a history of winning against the odds.
