Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumBernie Sanders to Appear on Meet the Press on Sunday. Let's play a game:
How many times will Chuck Todd ask Bernie about Hillary? Each time he does that, make a donation to Bernie, or if you cannot do that, post something positive about Bernie on all of your Social Media sites.
And each time Bernie tells Chuck that he needs to ask Hillary, that he is there to talk about ISSUES, post some more positive stuff about Bernie.
Some people are planning to play a drinking game lol.
But considering the script the Corporate Media follows, that might be a bad idea!
Anyhow, it will be fun watching Bernie teach Chuck how to conduct an interview with a candidate for the WH.
Simply talk about the ISSUES. He does it beautifully and tells them to their faces that they are not doing their jobs when they try to talk about trivia and things the 'American People are not interested in'.
Editing this to include this great idea from DUer smokey nj:
17. Perhaps it can be done like a drinking game as the interview is happening, but instead of taking a shot, post a tweet to Chuck's feed.
ETA: I think I misunderstood the assignment. Are you talking about giving them advanced notice regarding the action? If so, I think it might be better to surprise them.
I think that's a great idea and I agree that we should surprise him also!
And here are his Social Media accounts:
https://twitter.com/chucktodd ~ don't forget you have click on 'follow' on his account to be able to tweet to him.
Here is his announcement for Sunday's Meet the Press:
Meet the Press ?@meetthepress May 29
This Sunday, a special #2016 episode of #MTP: @BernieSanders, @RickSantorum, & @JohnKasich. #MeetTheCandidates
So two Repubs as well as Bernie. Good, let the public see the difference.
Thanks also to DUer calimary for the following information:
15. Post it on the "Meet the Press" Facebook page. Or if you do Twitter (which I don't),
do it there, too.

(493 posts)...but it'll be sweeter if we can somehow let NBC and Chuck Todd know about it, too.
I'm gonna go one better and invite a bunch of friends over and we'll watch and donate together. With Bernie on, it'll be the statistical outlier to the Superbowl of Banality.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)not sure how we could do that. But it's a good idea, might help keep him on whatever toes he has.

(62,325 posts)and send him this OP. It's worth a try.

(62,325 posts)idea to the OP with his twitter account in a few minutes. I LOVE that idea!
I hope he doesn't block all of us! Lol!
smokey nj
(43,853 posts)Also MTP probably has a feed that's separate from Chuck's personal feed - that we could use too.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)I also posted your suggestion in the OP.
To answer your question re letting Chuck know, someone suggested that, but I think you are right, we should surprise them.
I saw some spoof accounts for Chuck while looking for his account. But you're right, MTP probably does have its own account for him.
I think, since the Corporate Media serves very little purpose we may as well use it like this. At least get some use out of it!
And we should NOT be nasty at all. Just post positive things about Bernie, or maybe questions re the questions Chuck asks.
Iwillnevergiveup
(9,298 posts)Now THAT is funny. I am going to have to break tradition and tune into this show.
It might be fun to let Bernie's campaign staff know what's going on to keep morale up. Instead of an online donation which I don't believe allows you to make any comments, I'm going to send a check - $5 for EVERY irrelevant question the Toad asks. You know he'll bring up "socialism."
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)people do something similar to this, only s/he suggested a drinking game, take a shot each time he mentions 'socialism'!
There will be a lot of drunk people tomorrow if people decide to do that.
I think it's better to turn the Corp media's intentions towards Bernie, to minimize his campaign, upside down and USE them to fund and promote Bernie all over the internet.
I posted Chuck's twitter feed in the OP and we can post to that if we follow him.
I think Bernie will make out pretty good from this, because it's almost a certainty that Chuckie will make a fool of himself asking his scripted questions! Lol!

(62,325 posts)your info, to the OP so people can contact him.
Also a great idea upthread, which I will add to the OP also. Each time Chuck asks about Hillary, post a comment on Chuck's social media sites.

(17,796 posts)but I'll have to pay in posts. Already squeezing all the Bernie Bucks I can from my piggy bank.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)site, each positive post helps get Bernie's name out there. Other candidates are paying people to post about them on Social Media, got one the other day. People recognized it as a 'paid' post and told him/her so, advising them not to demand retweets, that's not how it's done on Twitter lol.
But bernie has an army of people all over the Social Media sites who are doing for this country. We don't need to be paid because we believe he is the best candidate right now for this country.

(17,796 posts)I break down and start up on Facebook.
Would give me an easy way to share the stuff I get here with friends/family.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)Will post to his twitter account immediately he mentions Hillary.
Something positive about Bernie always 'sticking to the issues'.
And I will sign up for a small monthly donation, unless he only mentions her once, then I'll make a one time donation.
May as well make some use of the Corporate Media because they're not much use for anything else.
Btw, see edit to the OP. Two repubs on as well as Bernie. And some more suggestions on how to play with Chuck!

sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)people could politely, because we don't want to be blocked, ask questions on his feed like 'why did you not respond to Bernie's question' eg.
The MSM isn't much good for anything so we may as well use it to get support for Bernie!

(45,806 posts)I'm glad to hear Bernie is on ANY national shows. I've known him for years through Thom Hartmann's show every Friday and MSNBC etc. but MANY MANY people have never heard of him. I've been hearing on several shows, like Norm Goldman, & Thom Hartmann's that the media is doing a blackout on Bernie. When a Pub announces, they put it front page, but when Bernie announced...crickets.
He really NEEDS the exposure.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)regarding the influence of the MSM. Social Media is where Bernie is on fire right now, and his rising poll number are mostly due to the efforts of his tens of thousands of online supporters.
I read a great blog post about the Media being silent on Bernie and how it may backfire with examples of how that has happened before.
So I am confident that Bernie IS going to win the nomination because the people, once they learn about him, will make it happen.
This appearance will help to get him face time with what's left of the Corporate media's audience.
But I just thought we should USE them, since they're not much good for anything else, to help Bernie anyway we can.
INdemo
(6,994 posts)(I think it was John Kerry) and every time they were discussing a hot issue and Kerry was walking all over George Bush, they would go to a commercial break and when they came back someone else would have the lead conversation .
So I really expect this to happen tomorrow with Chuck Todd and Bernie Sanders
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)But we may as well USE them for something positive imo when Bernie is on. We can counter their negative garbage on Social Media, something we didn't have much of back in the Bush era.
INdemo
(6,994 posts)and that is Social media. Looking back at 2008 Facebook was in its infancy and I don't know about twitter but even in 2012 social media is really advanced compared to 2012. So yes I believe the younger voters the college crowd will make a big difference in this election and might just be enough help Bernie win some primaries and make this nomination process interesting.
But I really expect MTP to break for a commercial when Bernie has the spotlight and conversational advantage going for him.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)he is now the second most popular candidate out of all who are currently running. And the Dem front runner is no longer at '82%' as we had been hearing for so long.
I don't think anyone thinks the Corporate media will be promoting Bernie which is why are working so hard on the Social Media which has a way larger audience and cuts out the media talking points completely.
zeemike
(18,998 posts)And have someone on that will interrupt Bernie every time he opens his mouth.
INdemo
(6,994 posts)NBC/CorpMediaInc and Chuck Todd thinks that Bernie will criticize Hillary which will help Republicans and I think the whole thing will blow up in Chuck Todd's face because Bernie will stick to the issues and will leave there with more voters taking notice and taking Bernie Sanders very serious.
And the contributions will roll in.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)tells them he is not there to talk about another candidate and if they have questions about her they should ask her those questions, they don't seem to be able to go off script.
It will blow up in his face if he tries it because once again, Bernie will repeat what he has said over and over again.

(12,471 posts)I hope that I can stream it on the train to NYC.
At the Left Forum in NYC there will be a session discussing whether or not the Left should endorse Bernie. I think that this is quite important. This forum used to be called the Socialist Scholars' Conference, and is put on by the CUNY graduate center. It's an annual thing, with so many forums and topics, it's difficult to describe.
I would like to be able to see Upchuck Toad interview Bernie, and watch Bernie pivot to his issues like a pro. I only hope that I can catch it streaming on the web, on my way down.
For more info about the Left Forum, and what it's about check http://www.leftforum.org . It's really a worthwhile event. I haven't missed it for about ten years now.

(62,325 posts)Bernie kept Chuck under control.
As for his last question, no doubt Chuck was told to get that in no matter what.
So I will donate a monthly amount of $10.00 for the next 12 months in Chuck Todd's honor.
And next month an additional $50.00 in Chuck's honor for that last question which is clearly all they could find to try to make something of. So Bernie gets $170.00 in honor of Chuck's 'performance' today.

(9,298 posts)the tapes of Kasich, Santorum and the purple socks tribute to Schieffer are at the top. You have to scroll down to see Bernie, and what's the topic they attached to him? A 1972 sex essay he wrote in college!
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)smear him with. I think we need to go to Chuckie's account there and let him know, politely of course, what an incredible dufus he is and that we, the people, have a lot more to worry about than an essay written 43 years ago by a college student when people are dying, starving, Criminals on Wall St are walking free, War Criminals, still not prosecuted etc etc.
The Corporate Media is gutter press at this point. I only watched it today because Bernie was on.
And I donated to Bernie BECAUSE of Chuck's stupidity.
Iow, we should make it a protest of the MSM to donate each time they behave the way they do towards Bernie.
He won't be taking Corporate Money, but we can USE the Corporate Media to help fund his campaign.
Chuckie earned Berni $170.00 from me with his disgusting behavior today.

(38,613 posts)The list of Sanders Scandals on DU have been hard-hitting game-changers:
Not enough in his savings, so he can't handle money (or is Hiding Something).
He quoted the pope on Facebook, so he clearly hates gay people.
He hates religious people (because some DUers mocked a puff piece about Clinton's "faith" .
He has "r*pe fantasies".
He's not really a Dem.
He doesn't care about the plight of African Americans.
Oh, and he's a "gun nut".

And it shows how little they've been able to dig up about him that they had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to pick up that spec of dust.
So, in honor of Chuckie for getting the job he had to do, done, I will donate $50.00 in June, to Bernie's campaign, in honor of Chuck.
