Biden on China: "They're not competition for us"

Per Axios' Joe Uchill: While Biden may be right that resource management could cap China's potential, that hasn't stopped the country from stealing billions of dollars in intellectual property through cyber and other means, providing stiff competition in tech fields — in part, due to stolen intellectual property — and investing threatening amounts in emerging fields like artificial intelligence and quantum computing. In telecom equipment, China has 2 of the top 5 companies in the world, with Huawei being No. 1.

Axios' National Political Reporter Jonathan Swan weighed in as well saying Biden’s is not a view shared by leaders of either party in Washington, or by national security leaders. One of the rare things Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and President Trump agree on is that China is a rising, increasingly urgent threat to the U.S.

I gotta respectively disagree with Joe on this. He needs to walk this back. The sooner the better.

bound to become part of the conversation so it is probably good to also address these early also.

They will be used by opposition in a general election.

He mentioned China and made some very good points regarding their degrading air quality, increasing cancer rates, water availability and alike. I do believe that they are competition, but they have a significant number of internal problems which are about to bubble to the surface which will impede their progress.

I like Joe Biden and if he is the choice in the General, He or any Democrat will certainly get my vote.

Hell, a cardboard box would get my vote over the "Esteemed" Mr. Trump or any GOP Candidate.

What Biden means is that American laboratories and advanced technology cannot be matched by China and we need to focus on manufacturing tomorrow's technology and its products. Let China make old technology trinkets.

For decades, the world economy worked that way. US and EU had the new technology products and they literally donated manufacturing of old technology to the third world so that third world would have money to buy the new tech products.

Under GW Bush, the advancement into new technology stopped.

Even today, America has the potential to make solar panels that are 55% efficient and will have a huge market, leaving the Chinese 19% efficient solar panels in the dust.
