By Joe Concha - 05/03/19 10:43 AM EDT
MSNBC announced Friday it will launch a new show, Saturday Night Politics with Donny Deutsch, as part of the network's expansion of weekend programming.
Deutsch, a prominent advertising executive and NBC News and MSNBC contributor, will feature an interview with South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, a 2020 Democratic contender, on his inaugural show Saturday.
MSNBC says the program "draws from Deutschs decades-long experience in marketing, advertising and political consulting to explore the most effective messaging and strategies of presidential candidates and how they are presenting themselves to American voters.
MSNBC, Fox News and CNN have all expanded live programming into the weekends.
Deutsch is most often seen on the network's "Morning Joe" with Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
The 61-year-old Queens, N.Y. native is a staunch critic of President Trump, often leveling personal attacks on him.
During a recent roundtable discussion on the show, Deutsch mocked the president's appearance, calling him one of the most "repulsive physically-looking humans Ive ever seen."
