Do you think they could all still fit on the stage? Or are we thinking having them go around the auditorium?

If this keeps up, the candidates will sit where the audience usually does and the audience will sit on the stage.

To have these many candidates? I believe it will IF they join forces at the end, if all the campaign money of those who loose goes into supporting the nominee, and if they make an effort to carry the same message. They should compete on "who can do it better", but the goals for the country should be the same.

These relatively obscure latecomers have to know they haven't a fart's chance in a monsoon of getting the nomination, so are they doing it to get attention to further other political aspirations? Hoping to be picked as the nominee's running mate? Trying to impress a significant other/parent/next-door neighbor? Why don't we all do it, just for fun?

Sixth paragraph down

Hizzoner would be joining a crowded field with at least 21 other Democratic candidates — and a handful more who haven’t declared yet. The mayor may not even qualify for the first debates, which have been capped by the Democratic National Committee at 20 participants split over two consecutive nights.

Timing is everything.
