Polls are volatile things, Biden was 30% in front , now he's at 24% up.

lol

Seriously though, we won't know how these polls will shake out until after some of the debates.

The first debate is at the end of June!

He made mincemeat out of Sarah Palin and Paul Ryan. Neither could recover after Biden trounced them.

Also, you're comparing apples to oranges. This poll is of "early primary states" which includes IA and NH where Biden is not that far ahead.

17. Joe Biden's greatest (and not-so-greatest) debate hits
Tue May 7, 2019, 12:21 AM
May 2019

"It’s no secret that Vice President Joe Biden has a tendency to stick his foot in his mouth. And looking ahead to Thursday’s debate, one of the big questions has to be whether Biden will steal the spotlight for saying something controversial.

But before looking forward, it’s worth looking back at Biden’s previous debate performances -- of which there are plenty to choose from. There are moments Biden can reflect on with pride, and others he might want to forget. Below is our rundown of his five most memorable debate moments (and for more on Biden's debate tendencies, check out this video from the Post's Karen Tumulty):"

Way too early to anoint anyone now. Iowa I believe is 7 months away. Biden better start talking about his plans for the American people. If he's just going to run as alternative to Trump he will not win the nomination. Americans are too smart and there are many outstanding candidates running for Democratic nomination.

It means responders are currently supporting Biden.

But the first debate is at the end of JUNE and the second follows right after at the end of August.

After those first debates, I think we'll start seeing if a horserace is shaping up in the run for the nomination!

It's going to be exciting to see our candidates going head to head! Good luck to them all.

Mon May 6, 2019, 11:11 PM

Biden had some incredible early poll numbers the first week after he announced, way up in all the polls with a 30% lead over a fading Sanders.

I guess it was inevitable that the announcement bump would wear off a bit. And I am sure Biden still enjoys being at 44%, I sure wish my guy, Cory Booker, had that large a number. Still... Sanders supporters must be heartened by closing the gap and now trailing by "just" 24%.

Still, it shows how volatile early polls can be, losing 20% of your lead in isn't something you should ignore.

I will be looking forward to seeing poll results after the first debate or two. I suspect we'll see a surge of support for Warren and Harris as they move up on Biden and Sanders. I hope my guy, Cory Booker, can do the same!

Do you hear hoofbeats? Could the nomination campaigns actually turn into a horserace?

Time will tell!

Cheers

14. "How's Sanders, cough, Booker doing?" he's not 76 years old lol
Mon May 6, 2019, 11:48 PM
May 2019

Cory Booker is looking great! And he should be, he's over TWENTY-FIVE YEARS YOUNGER at age fifty than either Biden or Sanders.

George, mind if I let everyone in on your joke? You see, George keeps insisting I am a closet Sanders supporter. lol

So, George, let me once again ( what is this, the tenth time now? ) say this:

I feel that Biden, at age 76, and Sanders, at age 77, are both too old to best represent the party as our nominee in 2020. We have a slew of exceptional and well qualified candidates in the prime of their lives and I hope that voters get behind them and select one as our nominee.

Why? The rigors of being president. it ages everyone that holds the office 10 years. We have all seen that. Biden and Sanders will BOTH be in their 80's at the end of their first term if elected. They will be in there late EIGHTIES at the end of their second term.

Not only are there the usual physical health concerns about men in their 80's in high stress jobs, but AGE RELATED COGNITIVE DECILNE is a real and and well studied fact. Research shows that men between ages 65-70 experience about a 10% decline in fluid cognitive abilities. This decline continues thru the 70 age range.

Don't think this matters? Looking at society at large:

The average age of a CEO in a Fortune 500 company is 59.

The mandatory retirement age of a General in the military is 62 with a few exceptions to stay on until age 64.

The average tenure for CEO's and generals are both about 10 years, corresponding to ages 54-64 for CEOS and 52-62 for Generals.

Think about that, complex organizations like Fortune 500 companies want and the Military DEMANDS that there leadership serve only from ages 55-65 roughly speaking.

The average age of all 44 U.S. presidents who have taken office was just over 55 years old until tRump took office as the oldest ever at age 70.

Biden and Sanders are BOTH over a DECADE older than the 65 year retirement age Wall Street and the Military consider reasonable. And that's even before their first term as president even starts.

So, in closing, thanks again George for giving me the opportunity to explain why I feel both are simply too old to best represent the party as our nominee in 2020. That's why I hope voters get behind one of the excellent younger candidates that are running.

Cheers!
