Looks like he's very uncomfortable around children and totally "out of his element". And that's just an observation, I'm not being critical... still it's amusing to watch him struggle. In fairness, not everyone can be a good dad. It's difficult to be able to communicate easily and naturally with children... it's one of those skills that is developed over time, with constant exposure and experience... being involved.
I know that my husband was nervous and uncomfortable with the idea of being a dad at first... but he certainly tried his best, he was always there for our children... and he never shirked his duties. Over time my husband grew more comfortable, more confident and more skilled. My husband was proud to accept the challenge, and in the end, he ended up being quite adept at handling (and communicating) with our kids as well as their friends.
Ah... good memories. I'm very proud that my husband has always been there for our kids and he's always provided for them... both financially and emotionally. He was (and still is) a very caring an nurturing man. (Oh, but I digress.)

His style of lecturing has not changed. No wonder he prefers situations where he's not actually interacting, but behind a podium yards away from the nearest audience member, or speaking to a camera.
