Joe Biden, known for his gaffes, isn't meeting those expectations -- so far

LOS ANGELES — The mayor of Los Angeles was attempting to praise Joe Biden to the press, but Biden’s aides were more focused on shooing the press away.

At the end of a made-for-cameras lunch he shared with Biden at a taco stand last week, Mayor Eric Garcetti had to raise his voice over a phalanx of Biden staff members, who were attempting to end the question-and-answer session between the former vice president and about 40 reporters and photographers swarming their table.

“I want to say one last thing,” the mayor twice said over the din, before offering his homage: “Los Angeles loves Joe Biden and Joe Biden loves Los Angeles.”

The tape recorders and cameras were soon shut off, and Biden exited King Taco without having veered off message.

and the host was doing the usual "he's only winning because of name recognition and people think he's electable" routine. Then he flogged a New Republic article called "The Electability Monster." Well the author was there and said the pundits got it wrong as they often do, as their standards are often irrelevant to what the electorate is looking for. That's when he mentioned the gaffe standard which doesn't mean much these days. But pundits act like it's a deal breaker.

Well Yeah if Biden can bring us the "Rust Belt" why wouldn't that be in his Plus Column! It certainly is in mine.

Long way to go but it will Go Fast, and we're all figuring it out as we go along. Don't think anybody has crystal ball on this Democratic Primary.

As the presidential race is still in its early form, former vice president Joe Biden made a stop in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Before two fundraising stops that brought in $700,000, plus dinner at STK Westwood, the presidential candidate joined Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti at King Taco on Pico near Alvarado.

Biden spoke to reporters about immigration, gun control, and Congressional investigations into President Trump. Biden also noted his reluctance to run if Garcetti jumped into the race. According to L.A. Taco, Garcetti provided his backing — to King Taco. “I do endorse King Taco, the best taco around.”

which wouldn’t have become a thing if Chevy Chase hadn’t made it one on SNL after Ford fell on the steps of AF1. Likewise, because the media like to remind us that Biden is “gaffe-prone,” everything he says will be carefully parsed, and a slightly inartful statement if made by anyone else will be called a gaffe if Biden says it.
