Related: About this forumDemocratic Fight for Nevada Is Wide Open
March 3, 2019 at 7:40 am EST By Taegan Goddard
Politico: While the lions share of media attention is focused on Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, Democratic hopefuls from Elizabeth Warren to Kamala Harris to Michael Bloomberg are quietly making early, behind-the-scenes moves that underscore the states sway: Warren has moved quickest to establish state-level campaign infrastructure, while Harris dropped into Nevada this weekend and Bloomberg, as well as Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, have met with the influential Culinary Union in the past week.
The activity highlights the 2020 opportunity available in Nevada, which operatives described as wide-open and waiting for a candidate to stake a strong claim to the state.

Well it is something...so there won't be the travesty of watching about 1500 voters decide on

Yeah, I saw someone arguing in favor of caucuses because the people that go are so much smarter

(71,519 posts)1. The Nevada caucus is undemocratic period... if states want to remain caucus states than they need
to go last so the pitiful numbers of participants do not have an undue affect in choosing a Democratic nominee for president.

But simply going to a primary, as many formerly caucus states have chosen to do, would be preferable.

the nominee the state supports and then watch the primary results which wouldn't even count name a different nominee in 20.

(5,825 posts)5. Yeah, I saw someone arguing in favor of caucuses because the people that go are so much smarter
than the plebs who have to work. Those who attend caucuses are more into politics and know what's best for everyone else.
A primary should be open to all members of the party. I guess absentee ballots is one way to do it but pretty much defeats the whole idea of a caucus anyway doesn't it?

I don't believe in caucuses actually...And I am relieved there are absentee ballots.
