Politico: Kamala is connecting with the people too much

When it comes to media coverage, Kamala is the new Hillary.

Politico:
"Kamala Harris' big question mark:
She's connecting with audiences — sometimes to a fault."

1. The last thing a presidential candidate needs

is to connect too well with the American people!

We’ve surely learned that by now.

It reminds me of Obama - remember when the worst thing Republicans could find to say was “oh, he’s so perfect.” They tried to paint him as someone who thought he was the messiah, because they couldn’t find a legitimate reason to criticize him.

too close to voters. What in the world is Politico thinking? I would think we all crave the opposite, being that there are 325 million of us, and seeing a candidate up close and personal is an unique, once in a lifetime experience. Don't knock it, Politico.

I remember as a kid going to Alton Elementary School in Independence MO. No big deal.

What the big deal was that Harry S. Truman and his wife Bessie lived right across the street. As a kid, I got to see so many candidates in person, since of course, the candidates coming to see Harry would love all of the kids out there too (the school was literally across the street from his house). An experience of a lifetime.

Also, in STLMO, we got to see a few candidates in Downtown STLMO. Where I live at now (Tower Grove Park neighborhood) is where representative (democratic) Dick Gephardt lived, one of the great representatives before he retired. We saw presidential candidates too because of Dick G. (come to visit him).

The unique and very satisfying experience of seeing a candidate up close and personal is something that you can't copy or give to someone else. You have to be there. I was lucky. Now, I'm too old to mess around with, but I don't mind giving up the space for others to have the same experiences I was lucky to have.

9. The title doesn't match the article

It's a little bit about her emotionally connecting but mostly about her not having a good grasp of details, which is very much not like Hillary.

I like a candidate who's good at details, but then again, I liked Hillary.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

I thought that was the most interesting line from the article, and rightfully should have been the headline, given the content. The headline itself was a strange choice.

It was a good analysis of her strengths and weaknesses, including details from her prior campaigns, notably 2015. It matches my impression of Harris, that she is talented but would struggle on defense. The article pointed out some of her blunders from the senate campaign but said they were mostly ignored because the opponent was even more error prone.

No matter who we nominate I know I'll be longing for Hillary caliber throughout the race. Hillary is phenomenal. I don't pretend to know why the nation was so skeptical of her, although I saw the same thing often directed at various female nominees when I hosted debate watching parties for 8 years. You'll never hear anything as vile as how older female voters will describe a female candidate who they don't like. More than once I wanted to throw those people out of my living room. But I had to calm down and understand that I was doing it as learning experience, so I wasn't guessing toward how certain demographics think.
