Michael Bennet wants broad support for his plan to fight climate change
Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet pledged Monday to work with the agriculture community on his plan to fight climate change, which he hopes will also appeal to Republicans.
It could mean striking a delicate balance: appealing to a broad section of Americans without sacrificing ambitious goals.
As has become standard for the nearly two dozen Democratic presidential candidates, he released details of what would be his administration's plan to combat climate change. On Monday, he released a nine-month timeline for action, starting with his first day as president. He would aim to achieve 100% net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The senator said he would look to farmers and ranchers for their best carbon-capturing and reducing practices. His plan said if the country can shift from traditional energy production (like fossil fuels), the resulting renewable or zero-emission energy sector could support 10 million new jobs.
