Biden needs to stop this shit. It's not hard to do so.

In a somewhat odd moment at tonight's AFT town hall, Biden tells a 10-year-old girl, “I’ll bet you’re as bright as you are good-looking." He takes her over to the assembled reporters, then stands behind her and puts his hands on her shoulders while he's talking.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

Get over it is right! This is so asinine. Who wants to live in a world whare touching, hugging, praising is gone?

Most of us despise the hate, name calling, put downs that shows from the crazy, narcissistic thing in the WhiteHouse today!

Any one notice how Trump grabs Melania’s hand in a grip she finds it hard to get out of? She had to jerk her hand loose coming down the plane steps in Japan to hold her dress down. Is that supposed to make Trump look loving? It doesn’t, just makes him look domineering.

This is why we have a hard time ever getting the upper hand, politically, even though there are more of 'us' ... we are much more easily divided than Straight White Christians who uniformly watch Faux, go to Church on Sunday, and who are taught from birth that Straight White Christians are the apotheosis of humanity, and must prevail at all costs.

As opposed to ... with our side ... we bicker among ourselves about this sort of thing that's seen in the article.

Which means we are easily divided, and that is easily exploited.

Tue May 28, 2019, 09:54 PM

sometimes people, including children, need be told they look nice.

I don’t get these new rules where you can’t compliment someone. It isn’t a terrible thing for a girl to feel good about her appearance. Or any one for that matter.

I’m getting sick of some of this shit.

Oh, btw, I recently was at the rally of one of the women running for President and was able to take a photo with her. Now wait for it.....she put her arm around my waist! What should I be thinking about that? Lol!

do you make a point to tell boys they "look nice"?

or do you tell them they have done a good job?

do tell

p.s. what you as an adult feel comfortable with has fuck all to do with how someone else feels, particularly minor and unknown someone elses.

Girls and women will suffer if kind, non-sexual compliments are denied them and they’re only left with those who actually do have nefarious intent. The kids who are vulnerable are not the ones who are told they’re smart or cute or sweet or look really nice that day. It’s the ones who aren’t or who only hear it from someone who wants something who are in danger.

After watching the video and seeing the reaction of the audience toJoe Biden's gesture, and still have the gall to write such a pure trumpian statement reveals one thing for sure. She is definitely not a Democrat. She needs to go join the 'Altered Pelosi Video Club' where she would probably be welcomed with open arms.

You'll see he treats her with great respect, gives a great answer to her question, compliments her and contrasts her poise with his problem with stuttering as a 10-year-old.

This vey short clip being misused by Biden's critics is apparently an attempt to make it seem as if he just walked up to her, instead of her being brought forward to ask him a question, to which he gave a wonderful, lengthy answer.

Children are watching. Treat the little girl (or boy) as someone who may become POTUS one day. And it can happen to her. So respect her as having such strong qualities.

And at least compliment her for that fact, before you walk away.

Extra Tip; don't forget the little girl may have been taught to get away from what maybe uncomfortable for her.

And she was thrilled. You can see it in her face.

I get it... you have to project your own offenses onto someone else who may not perceive them as such. Someone who may even be thrilled by the positive attention.

It's clear however, that examining the young child's interpretation of both event and intent certainly deflates the self-righteousness that we proudly wear like puffed and pompous generals displaying a chestful of medals.

Politically-based ethics and partisan concern are convenient. Damned convenient. I'll certainly not argue that point. But I'll never believe it sincere, either.

we are of an age. And you're not going to change these old guys. This is how they think, this is how they view the world. And the world has moved on. We need a younger candidate, who understands and appreciates the Me Too movement and realizes that the touchy feely days of campaigning are over. Respect everyone, by keeping your hands and your personal comments to yourself.

without referring to someone's appearance. We have finally been making some inroads into dismantling the cultural mores that prioritize women's appearance over other characteristics. Beauty culture is severely dysfunctional and 3rd wave feminists have finally been willing to point it out. But, their elders don't seem to grasp it. Not sure they ever will.

When it becomes unacceptable for a Democratic candidate to tell a 10 year old girl she is smart and pretty we have won our last election.

And deservedly so.

but not being able to act with young girls the same way that other grown men who don't know them act.

It's not criminal or molesting her, but it's kinda creepy at a time he's been put on notice of this issue, and he said he now knows he has to change his ways.

This is a complete misrepresentation of what actually occurred. Biden did nothing wrong and the 10 year old girl was thrilled with the whole thing.

Please don't do this, OK? I'd appreciate that.

hurts a candidate they don't support. The Republican opponent will do the same thing, later on in the process.

Going after a Democratic primary candidate in that way is a desperation move by people who support a candidate who is not doing so well. It won't work, though, and it doesn't help their candidate, either.

Waste of time.

Fortunately I did not scar them too badly as they have all grown up to be strong, successful women.

It would be no problem if Biden did that. But Biden doesn't ask first, and he usually doesn't hug and let go quickly. He hangs on for dear life. I know he doesn't mean anything by it, but it looks odd and uncomfortable.

It would be better if he gets a handle on this tendency he has, so that it's not an issue going forward. One of the things to use against Trump is that he's sexist and has admitted to grabbing women and such. It's hard to use that when it's an argument of "my grabbing is different from his grabbing." LOL.

How big an issue it is, I don't know. But it's an issue.

Obama doesn't look deep into the young girl's eyes, while touching her, and keep his hands on for several minutes. Biden really needs to cure that habit. I know he doesn't mean anything by it. But it does seem a bit creepy, and the audience in the OP video does seem uncomfortable to me.

In the video in the preceding post, Obama ASKED the girl if she was too old to hug,and she said she hugs. He quickly hugged, then let her go. He didn't hang on. LOL. When Biden does that, it's just odd.

I know you disagree, but it'll be a problem in the election, if he keeps doing that.

like they did a couple years ago. For his own good, if he wants to cement this nomination, Joe should listen to his closest friends who all seem to have warned him some time ago about the same thing the OP is concerned about. We all know that Biden's intentions are harmless, but he doesn't need to be giving the right wing any such ammunition like this that they can distort and hurt his reputation with. He ought to know by now that his enemies are all waiting by the sidelines to pounce on any opportunity where Joe happens to have the slightest little bit of physical contact with young girls.

The occasional squeeze might hurt him but the alternative might hurt worse. He's a born gladhander and mumbling woodenly through speeches he's been giving all his life is not a good look. People want to see that dynamite smile. Yes he's old school, but where has the alternative has landed us? So I guess we're going to have to live with it.
