Pete Buttigieg Not Affected By New Debate Rules

It's going to be harder for 2020 Democratic presidential candidates to get to the third and fourth debates, but South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg looks like he will make the stage.

A spokesperson for Buttigieg's campaign did not provide exact numbers, but said the campaign "easily" meets the individual donor threshold for the third and fourth debates.

Candidates will have to hit 2% in four qualifying pools and tally at least 130,000 individual donors in order for candidates to qualify for the debates scheduled for September and October.

Buttigieg is on track to meet the new, more stringent polling requirement. In a May 21 poll from Quinnipiac University, Buttigieg was the top pick for 5% of the 454 Democrats and Democratic-leaning people surveyed.

Buttigieg also had the support of 6% of Democrats or Democratic-leaning voters in a May 23 poll by Monmouth University.

Good news for Mayor Pete and bad news for anyone who has to go up against him in the debates because I think Pete is going to be outstanding in those debates, maybe even shine above everyone else.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

is the most experienced in so many categories, as well as seemingly the wisest as to world view and national issues.

Am now rooting for Inslee, tilting to Biden, but sincerely heartened by Mayor Pete. Also smitten by many others and take heart in our obviously deep and talented "bench."

he's going to make the cut for all of the debates to come, at least before the caucuses and primaries start. He may well build on the momentum he's had going for the last few months.

He's the very definition of a fresh face, and for those who value that, Pete may be the last person standing.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
