And was hoping he would come to the realisation that running on gun control was a losing strategy.
I believe he has lost my support.

And no one thought Trump could ever become president.

The ONLY reason that Beto isn't doing as well in polls is because the media have been dismissive and condescending in much of their coverage of him. The national media reporting has also been misleading and inaccurate. The people being polled are watching that coverage. However, what is happening on the ground is completely different. For instance...Mayor Pete is polling higher because of that coverage yet he has practically no staff on the ground in early states and if you search Twitter about canvassing you find nothing. Beto, on the other hand, has had people out canvassing all over the country for the last couple of months and he has staff on the ground who are organizing in lots of states.

The polls right now are meaningless and misleading. There are also still many who are undecided.

Jun 2019

The Senator may be a more "likable" person that the evil Ted Cruz, but believe it or not he doesn't poll as well as Cruz. Unbelievable as it may sound, Cruz had a 51% approval rating during his race. Currently, Cornyn trails by 7 points with 43% favorable. Can he make it up before the election, yes its possible, but he might be more beatable. There are different circumstances than 2018; Trump is not popular in Texas as he should be considering how Red that state is.

Wish Beto would consider running for Senate. I know there is a strong Dem running, MJ Hegar, but she doesn't have the state-wide name recognition that Beto has and as far as I can tell, she has never held office. She came awfully close in winning a congressional seat in 2018. Let's hope that will be enough. I'm all in for MJ!!

And part of the culture.

What part of what Beto is saying bothers you? Is it banning assault weapons? If so, he's not in favor of taking away the guns people already own. He just believes they need to stop being sold. I agree with him. I remember when they were banned before and it didn't have any kind of impact or influence in my ability to hunt or go to firing ranges. I also never had to hunker down in a closet during a live shooter drill like todays' kids do.

I am not anti 2nd Amendment at all. I also believe with rights come responsibilities and must be balanced with the rights of others. It's time for assault weapons to be banned again and for some sensible laws to protect innocent people. It's long overdue.
