his presidential campaign is not successful.

I'm not sure if it violates the letter of his pledge, but it seems to violate the spirit of it?

Just hyper partisan Democrats. They’re not going to vote for him in the primary anyway, so what’s the point of complaining whether or not he ‘means it’ when he signs their pledge.

His seeming uncertainty about what he wants to be is disturbing. Might not matter, I think that either Hickenlooper or Inslee will make Bernie's pledge irrelevant. Inslee punches all the boxes that Bernie says that he is for, plus Inslee is strong on gun control, in addition, Inslee actually ACCOMPLISHED something in all areas. Hickenlooper may have a weak spot on climate change and fracking, but like Inslee, he has a solid record of accomplishments and like Inslee, he is a plain speaker.

Of course, it is now a prerequisite to running in the Democratic presidential primary, but I don't see how you can sign a pledge that states that you "are a member of the Democratic Party" all the while serving as an Independent and filing re-election papers as an Independent. That explicitly means you are not currently a member of the Democratic Party if you are doing those things.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

It is not a good situation. I hope that one of the lifelong democrats solve the issue by breaking away early and gaining strength from that point. I really like Hickenlooper and Inslee and believe that one of them can be the one.

And good luck to your candidate I am undecided and figure I will be until late this year/early next year when voting begins, and I would not be opposed at all to Hickenlooper or Inslee being one of those candidates that breaks away early and gains momentum heading into that time period!

"The people of Vermont elected me as an Independent, so I honor that agreement with them" or words to that effect.

Honestly, this continuing complaint is semantical. Senate Democrats named him chairman of outreach in November of 2016, reflecting his importance to the party.

The people of VT would have voted for him if he ran as a Dem. He has steadfastly run as an independent to bolster his ego and make a silly political point. I loved Bernie when I lived in Burlington and he was my mayor. There is no forgiving him for 2016. I’m not going to support a candidate that is only a Dem when it’s convenient. I wish he would just go away.
