Too bad you don't "..give a flying f*ck.." Don't listen to him if it upsets you so much.. plenty of voters actually like Joe Biden.

I would be just as irritated if the pissing contest were between two old women, two young women, two young men, two middle aged women, two middle aged men, etc. Have Biden and Trump lived for a long time and are no longer young? Yes. Are they between 70 and 79 years old? Yes. Using contextually relevant and accurate words is not prejudice or discrimination. I'm old too, ffs.

Drunken Irishman
(34,857 posts)An issue-driven debate normalizes Trump and excuses his behavior. It gives cover to the people to ignore his blatant, and bigoted, attacks. Look at the polls: Trump was at his most vulnerable in 2016 when the focus was on his awfulness - whether it was his spat with the Khan family, his feud with Miss America or the Access Hollywood tapes.
You want to lose an election? Then run a conventional campaign that focuses on issues only and ignores Trump because I guarantee you, the only thing people will hear is Trump dominating the discussion because it's the only thing that gains eyeballs. The last thing Democrats want is a campaign where the candidate is being drowned out by Trump's lies, and insane comments, while they talk about global warming.
The best way to beat Trump is to attack, assault and defend - then throw out the meat on policy. But you can't fight Trump with policy. He's going to suck up all the oxygen then and there won't be anything left FOR policy.

I think it might piss a few people off because one of those "old guys", namely the one with orange hair is not paying any attention at all to any of the other candidates, and is running scared and focused on his biggest threat.

(100,133 posts)...and carrying that burden for others so they can all talk about their pet policies instead of Trump's nasty nicknames for them. Trump is too busy insulting Joe, who doesn't give a damn what the orange madman says about him.
Joe has always been quick with a quip and a zinger -- but he's fact-based. The only one engaged in a so-called pissing contest is Trump, and he's going to end up with wet shoes while Joe walks away to do something meaningful with his time.
Trump ended up being the last GOP candidate standing in 2016 -- and the way he did it was to pick off all the others one by one by one, dragging each one down into the mud singly and disposing of them. They did not stand unified against him -- and he won. Do you want to witness that with our fine Dems in 2019? I sure don't. I Want him to be taken down by Biden, and I want Biden to stay in one piece, so Trump can't move on to Warren, then Beto, then Harris, one by one by one.
We all should know Joe's background as a Democrat by now. Do you honestly think he would do anything to harm any of the things you mention?
PS: Remember when Rudy Giuliani had stature as "America's mayor"? By the time he and Joe got on a debate stage together, Joe said, "All Rudy has is a noun, a verb, and 9-11" and people laughed like hell not because it was an insult but because by then it was true.

(3,146 posts)I give a fuck that the Septuagenarian candidate you deride has Trump soiling his golf pants.
I give a fuck that Joe Biden brings White House experience to the table. Picking up the pieces after Don the Con is no time for OJT.
I give a fuck that he is, despite all his gaffes, someone who can connect with that very important Middle America voter in places like Rural Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. This help block trump's path to a second term.
I admire Beto's youth and enthusiasm and would love to see him in the White House, someday.
Perhaps after a term or two in the Senate or a couple terms as governor of Texas he might be ready for prime time. Honestly. I'm leery of somebody who hasn't won a statewide election (AG, Governor, US Senator, etc.) running for the biggest office in the nation.
If he does become the nominee I will definitely vote for him but for now I'm sticking with time tested over the New Big Thing
