Liz Warren gets short end of the stick in first debate

How stupid can the DNC be? Either they do not want to see Liz Warren as the nominee or they are plain idiots. They stack the 2nd night with 4 out of 5 top polling candidates and stick Liz with the candidates that are polling at 1 or 2% in the polls. If I was Liz or anyone with her campaign I would be furious. The random drawing was a bad idea.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

1. The random drawing should have been limited to the 1 percenters.

They should have evenly divided the others.

She's the draw to that debate. I would have liked to see Pete and Sanders square off against her - but the primary is 51 weeks away. Anything can happen between now and next June - might be the only chance for those of us in low value primary states to see them all.

38. NJ

We are near the end. Generally we are ignored during the Primary. Can you blame the Candidates?

I want to change that for 2024 but my focus until November is securing our two Democratic Assembly members and getting two more Democratic Party members on the Council of our County Seat. I'm an elected Democratic Committee Member so I was voted in by other Democratics in my town to make these things happen.

There is a lot of anger in my precinct at the rest of the country because of the punitive SALT cap. Red/Blue they hate you. *smdh*

republican candidates, like a 1 ton boat anchor. They deserve it, none of the he's a good guy, she's a good woman stuff with them, if they are still members of that party something is wrong with them. Good luck. If you can you may want to post on DU about democrats in non primary races that need funding. We need to start finding the 2019 aggressively democrats once primaries are done in 2019.

The first night will enjoy the highest ratings and Elizabeth will get chance to shine on her own. The press coverage will be (almost) all Warren. The second night will be dominated by Biden v Sanders, to the detriment of the rest.

Senator Warren drew all aces for the first debate. She want have to deal with Bernie going after Joe and vice versa. She can drive her ideas home bigtime. I don't think there is anyone in that first night that can debate with her.

The person that got screwed? Mayor Buttigieg. He would have been more advantaged to be debating Liz (in her group).

25. They don't know her.

Couple of things.

At first I did not want her to run. She is our Senior Senator that holds Teddies seat. We need her here. She has been wonderful for MA and the country. Yep, willing to let her go as she has been fierce on the trail. Surprised me a bit and I am loving that.

Did you know that Obama was the one that talked her into running for Senate after the GOP blocked her from the CPA she founded? She is one of the GOPeepees worst nightmares.

I met her at a support rally for now Senator Markey. It was a quick in and out visit but she was fierce and friendly to those of us there. I got a chance to speak to her. She is a tiny thing and she sure as hell has a very big voice.

She comes from my home state. Went to high school about 15 miles from my house. But her greatest successes have come at Harvard and in the Senate. Still, were awfully proud of her. I hope she comes back here during the campaign so I can attend.

I havent declared here yet but if my primary were held today shed have my vote. I love specifics and energy. Shes got a lot of both.

6. I think the opposite is true...

Most of the people on the first night are going to be more interested in talking about policy. The other night is going to be nothing but a battle of egos trying to one up the other instead of talking about much of anything. It's normally always the first night that has the top candidates and most people aren't paying close attention yet, so I actually think MORE people will tune in on night one than night two.

Did I miss an announcement about having only one debate during the primaries? Senator Warren will be just fine. Tough as nails and completely unfazed by obstacles.

I sort of believe that Senator Sanders will try to make his debate a literal bloodbath of insinuations. Just a feeling so take it for what it is worth. If what I think will happen happens, Senator Warren is in a good place with the calmer first debate group.

Honestly, if she does not knock it out of the park, I will be amazed.

36. I agree, those who support her should be promoting her appearance instead of complaining she isn't

with Biden. i wish those who don't support Biden would just stop focusing on him so much. especially this early on.

not everything everyone does have to be centered around him.

Jay Inslee has a great record and he is best on the environment but instead of pushing that about his candidicacy he got caught up in complaints about the debates. and this has taken away from his very excellent record.

i don't believe Warren has complained so those who support her should follow her lead.

remember she didn't do Fox News either and she is doing better than those who did.

She will be in the spotlight by herself and will likely be measured against the low bar of not screwing up. The other four will have a tougher time impressing the commentariat. I would have preferred some sort of seeded draw to even things out. Of course the seeding process itself would be controversial.

But the more I thought about it, I think this may be a gift for her. She has the opportunity to really stand out and make a bigger impression than if she were in the crossfire of Bernie and Joe trying to out do each other.

I like the second one better.

But we shall see! The second night may be vastly different from the first after they gauge what was working and what fell flat.
