Most people understood the gist of what Biden was saying and that he was neither racist nor supportive of the vile senators.

The spin by David Sirota was wasted and took 2 days of potentially positive news coverage from all the candidates.

I don't think it's a coincidence that this latest attack on Joe Biden attempts to break his support within the AA community. Because without that support there is no path to the White House. Our other candidates know this and the Trump reelection campaign knows this. Yet Joe's poll numbers have remained strong, the strongest in the pack with minority voters, particularly African Americans.

The main objective is to rid ourselves of the Squatter-in-Chief who--by his own words and deeds--is racist. Trump has coddled White Supremacists, made excuses for Neo-Nazis and caged immigrant families including children as if they were animals. And if we're talking about past deeds, let's not forget Trump's involvement in public housing and the Central Park Five.

We need to have this SOB removed. I agree, btw. Joe can do just that. Which is why there is a huge target on his back.

Nothing is more attractive to a talking head, even one ostensibly 'on our side,' than a sharp conflict between two candidates. Because then, hey, it's a horserace and the corporate owners of the stations can make the news about THAT rather than the issues.

They don't want to talk about the issues, or educate people about the issues because Democrats would take over, we'd have health care, there would be systematic year-over-year cuts in defense, we'd have a decent immigration policy and a fair tax code. Our kids wouldn't be prey to a predatory capitalistic student loan system.

But...we have to talk about the issues, not the intra-candidate conflict.

goading them, in every interview, to "distinguish" or "contrast" themselves from the other candidates.
our candidates have mostly done a good job of keeping their pledge to stay positive.
msm really wants that fratricide. we really need to resist it.

that doesnt mean not discussing those frictions, and how they might hurt/help.
i think we did a pretty good job here, really. there were long threads and difference of opinion, but i think it has been civil and well thought out.

in the top 5 hoping to beat 45 from the Quinnipiac poll seen earlier this month. I'm not sure right now so that may have changed. https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2627

I don't argue Biden's strong AA support but I don't believe it is permanent, riding I think on Pres. Obama's coattails. After all, he has tried for the presidency at least 3 times and lost every one in low numbers. This, imo, is more than distracting tantrums and shouldn't be swept under the rug as such. As BlackPAC Executive Director Adrianne Shropshire said in his latest poll results, "Name identification, which is driving support for candidates at this point, will be insufficient for decisively winning the Black electorate –and subsequently, securing the nomination. Candidates must use this critical window to define their campaigns around these concerns- an unyielding commitment to halting the rise of bigotry and curbing widening racial disparities in our economic, healthcare, and education systems." https://blackpac.com/new-poll-black-voters-are-highly-motivated-to-push-our-country-back-on-track/

As more of Biden's record in our community comes out that the other candidates may/will use in their bid for the nomination I think that it will certainly reduce favorability and turnout especially among not only older AAs but the young, as well, as was the case with HRC and this is fair to think about.

As for South Carolina, Biden's nice 45% has fallen to 37% as Warren jumped from just 8% to 18% from May 31st to June 14th, as per the latest 538 polling of June 16th and we're still early in the game. If Biden can pull it off and win, I'm all for it. But right now, I'm not about a candidate who can discourage with head-scratching utterances and depress turnout. I want the candidate, I think are all excellent except Biden, who will energize and turnout the vote in numbers never seen before. But now and the coming year, as far as I'm concerned, our vote is definitely Biden's to lose.

For more than 30 years I have worked around the clock organizing and activating voters in South Carolina with my renowned “Reckoning Crew.”

We have hit the ground for local races, presidential races and everything in between — knocking on doors in rural communities and making phone calls into urban neighborhoods. We have had big wins and suffered some tough losses, but we are lucky to speak with so many voters in our communities.

It is safe to say that I know what South Carolina voters are looking for in 2020.....

Sanders’ divisive and baseless attacks won’t get him anywhere in the Palmetto State. And Sanders is proving to us —once again — that he just does not know or understand South Carolina voters.
By contrast former Vice President Joe Biden knows us like the back of his hand. And we know him.

Joe has more relationships in our communities than anyone else in this race.
He has more history with our communities than anyone else in this race.
And Joe is more comfortable in our communities than anyone else in this race.
