Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI see this as a three person race now. Probably won't change, either.
It's Warren, Biden, or Harris.
Honestly, I'd like Buttegieg as my next President, but in a primary I'd pull the lever for Warren as a more realistic choice.

Biden is bringing up the rear and so is Sanders. It is just a matter of time before they completely drop off.

I'm going out today to buy a Warren t-shirt because that's going to serve me all the way through the general election, I believe.

(5,760 posts)"I was getting conflicting advice from everybody back then, black and white, rich and poor, and sometimes as a Senator you have to make hard choices. In the final analysis, though, I admit it was a mistake. And you're living proof of that, Senator Harris. "
He was very unprepared for something he should have seen coming.

(9,116 posts)Delving into pure political cynicism here, but admitting error and asking for forgiveness would have been Biden's best course of action. He would have looked the better for it, and Harris would have been more or less obligated to accept the apology.
But we all knew Biden was going to double down and whitesplain, because that's what Joe Biden does. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Harris knew exactly what Biden's response would be.

Like Sanders they seem to have a very dedicated block of voters. I thought Biden would have sank in the polls by now as he was riding a wave of great name recognition and warm feelings for being VP. Looks like this isn't the case. If he continues to hold the big lead he has, it might be it doesn't matter what he says his base will remain w/him.
While others will disagree, I think Biden did not do himself any favors in this debate. He seemed to be ill prepared and flashes of his temper started to show. Biden has been in public life for a long time and has a record to defend/explain. What may have been acceptable when he started his political career, isn't today and he needs to explain it or not and let the voters decide.

(1,898 posts)As Howard Dean recently explained, the core base of the Democratic party is young voters, women and people of color. These three senators do the best job of fomenting enthusiasm among those groups. With Sanders' yuge infrastructure from last cycle and fresh legislation which continues to make headlines and garner key support, he will drive the key debate topics, just as he did this week with Medicare For All. On Wednesday, Warren even stated publicly during her time on the debate stage, in part, "I'm with Bernie on this."
